Bernhard Wilhelm was visibly enthusiastic about the start of the VSG men.

"It was an incredibly focused performance that the team called up," reported the team spokesman.

After winning the set 25:12 against the hosts Altötting, they only stumbled a bit in the second round.

"They were experienced opponents who didn't really suit us with their somewhat unconventional style of play," says the team manager.

With a deficit of 16:23, however, coach Nabil Habboubi showed a lucky hand with the substitution of Fabian Liemer, who brought his team back up with four serves in a row.

Korbinian Hölzl imitated him so that it was suddenly 23:23.

VSG also took a set ball from the opponent and won 26:24.

"But that was the only really exciting phase of the day," said Wilhelm.

Libero Adamek with a solid performance

It was easier against Wacker Burghausen, who in the meantime had defeated Altötting 3-1.

"These were all young, well-trained players who could really hit it," reports the manager.

However, the VSG got the opponent under control, got a lot of balls in the field defense and scored themselves with strong jump serves.

"Stefan Richter was the man of the day," Wilhelm praised the outside attacker for his brilliant statements.

Tobias Adamek also showed a solid performance, acting as libero for the injured Julius Wilhelm (thumb) for the first time.

Alexander Beck (against Altötting) and Thorsten Busch (against Burghausen) alternated in the setter position.

After an almost flawless performance, there was a clear 3:0 (25:19, 25:13, 25:19) success.

Defend the lead against Kirchweidach and Oberding

The VSG spokesman now hopes that there will be no major gaps in the tightly packed schedule so that the season can be completed by the end of May.

"You never know how many games will be canceled in the near future," Wilhelm refers to games that were canceled at the same time, including those from promotion competitor Freising II. at FC Kirchweidach - the second opponent is TuS Oberding - will defend their lead in the table.
