TSV Peiting is at the top of the table in district league 2.

Ten games are still to be played.

The Peitingen players could set their own monument there - if they only want to.

Peiting – The M question gives Fabian Melzer so much stomach rumbling as if he had just eaten a whole boatload of gummy bears.

The coach of TSV Peiting knows only too well that it makes no sense to flee into diplomatic all sorts now.

"Of course it's a long way," he begins, adding a little noncommittally.

But because there are only ten stages that separate his eleven from the championship in the district league 2, he quickly becomes more specific.

"It would be unbelievable if I said we only want to play at the top."

Melzer is a Bayern fan.

He knows that they once blew a championship in Dortmund because they absolutely refused to say the M-word.

That's why the league leader's coach prefers to go on the offensive rather than understatement when it comes to the topic of "promotion to the district league".

"That has to be our goal, we can't argue that away." His team's lead over VSST Günzlhofen, which they defeated twice, is three points.

With luck at 1:0 in Biermoos, with shine at 5:1 at home.

TSV also beat Utting, who was third in the rankings, 2-1, albeit narrowly.

TSV Peiting is three points ahead of VSST Günzlhofen

The fact that after almost two thirds of the season they are only three points ahead of the first pursuer is a little surprising given these results.

This fact is probably also the reason why Melzer, with all justified optimism, does not fall completely into euphoria.

After all, a championship also requires a lot of endurance from the players.

"I hope that this goal will reach the players," says the trainer, not sounding completely convinced.

The people of Peiting have a squad with select kickers that many a league competitor would lick their fingers for.

No team has scored more goals than TSV (39), and none have conceded fewer (20).

Matthias Lotter (11 goals), Benedikt Multerer (8) and Christoph Enzmann (6) lead the internal list of top scorers.

But the offensive of the leader is not only formed by this trio.

"There are many who step in," says Melzer, revealing a secret of his team's success.

"We don't allow ourselves to be fully calculated." Florian Wörle (4), Christoph Hertl (3), Andreas Neumeier (3) and Nicola Haser (2) also vouch for goals.

TSV Peiting: Balanced in all parts of the team

This balance in all parts of the team has made the difference to the competition so far. "We have a wide range of quality," the coach is convinced. It has increased over the past few months. Julian Floritz probably owns the largest investment. The goalkeeper has established himself with his 19 years in the Peitinger box and has delivered excellent performances in his 15 appearances. "He saved us a lot of points," praised his coach. The keeper is already radiating an incredible calmness. Another winner of the preliminary round is Daniel Slowiok. In the summer, the defender was actually still intended for the reserve. then he prevailed in the first team. "He made a big push," says Melzer. This also applies to Andreas Neumeier.A year ago, the striker came from the A-class club TSV Steingaden and, with a lot of hard work, fought for a regular place in the team. Overall, Melzer trusted 19 actors who were used regularly.

Everything would actually be perfect at TSV if there wasn't a very big "but".

The coach saw some of his team's games that he wasn't at all enthusiastic about.

In Maisach, his kickers lost a 3-1 lead and had to settle for a draw.

In the derby at TSV Altenstadt, they were already 2-0 up after just seven minutes, only to lose 2-3.

"That shouldn't happen," Melzer said angrily.

His team also led 1-0 in Penzing before finally losing 2-1.

There was nothing wrong with the 0:2 home defeat against Aich in the last game before the winter break.

"That was the only defeat that we have to completely accept," said the coach.

"There was nothing more in it, our bodies didn't carry us anymore."

The weak phases of his eleven have strengthened the coach in his view that "there is no such thing as a superior team in the league".

TSV is strong, as evidenced by some glorious victories, but it is also vulnerable.

"We can no longer allow ourselves periods of weakness," the coach warns his team urgently.

In preparation, he scheduled five test matches and a training camp in South Tyrol to fine-tune the game.

The work seems rewarding.

After seven years in the district league, the people of Peitingen have a realistic chance of finally being promoted back to the district league.

This means surviving 900 minutes without damage.

"Ten games are a manageable framework," says Melzer encouragingly.

The answer to the M question is given solely by his players.
