At the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, alpine skiing will again be about medals.

This is how you follow all decisions live on TV and stream.

An overview.

Beijing - Almost half a year after the end of the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, the next major sporting event is already coming up in February 2022.

The 2022 Winter Olympics will take place in Beijing between February 4th and 20th, 2022 and will bring a total of 109 competitions in seven sports into the living room of interested spectators.

Olympia 2022: Alpine skiing in Beijing – eleven gold to be awarded

In addition to biathlon and ski jumping competitions, the classic alpine skiing disciplines are also particularly popular with German TV viewers.

It doesn't matter whether it's on the descent at top speeds of over 140 km/h or on the technically demanding rides through the slalom pole forest: when alpine athletes compete in competitions in which hundredths of a second sometimes decide, sports fans in Germany switch gears and the whole of Europe welcomes you again and again.

Of course, the major sporting events where the coveted medals are at stake, such as the Alpine World Ski Championships and the Olympic Winter Games, are particularly popular.

At the Olympic Games in Beijing, a total of eleven gold medals are awarded in alpine skiing, which the athletes are chasing.

Alpine skiing at the 2022 Olympics: the speed disciplines in Beijing - downhill and super-G

Men and women take turns making decisions about the alpine ski disciplines from day to day.

It starts with the medal decisions on February 6th with a highlight.

Then the speed specialists fight for the absolute crowning glory of each ski.

Career: Olympic gold in the downhill.

The various disciplines in alpine skiing differ primarily in the number of gates placed on the piste.

The descent manages with the fewest gates and thus allows the highest speeds at the same time.

Speeds in excess of 140 km/h and jumps well over 50 meters make the races particularly spectacular for TV viewers too.

Two days later, on February 8th, the men's Super-G will be followed by the second and last speed discipline.

As with the downhill, only one round is held.

However, the route is shorter and technically more demanding than the descent due to the higher number of gates.

As a transition between the speed and technique disciplines, the best all-rounder will be sought in the alpine combination on February 10th.

Then the athletes have to ski one round downhill and one round slalom.

Olympics 2022 in Beijing: slalom and giant slalom - medal decision in the technical disciplines

The men’s technical disciplines will follow in the second half of the 2022 Olympics. On February 13, the giant slalom will take place first, in which the athletes have to fight their way through the gates in a fluid and smooth rhythm. The icing on the cake on February 16th is the slalom ride through the pole forest. Constant changes of direction and tight curves characterize the discipline with the most goals in the ski circuit.

The women's competitions are mirrored to the men's.

First the women have to compete in the technical disciplines, followed by the speed disciplines in the second half of the games.

The giant slalom will start on February 7th, followed by slalom on February 9th.

The first sports discipline, the Super-G, follows on February 11th.

The athletes can then compete in the downhill on February 15th.

The crowning glory is the alpine combination on February 17th.

German athletes will also start at the 2022 Olympics.

In addition, for the second time since the 2018 Winter Olympics, women and men can compete for medals together.

The team event on February 19 marks the grand finale of the alpine skiing disciplines at the 2022 Olympics. Two men and two women from each nation will compete head-to-head in a parallel slalom.

The times of each athlete are added and the winner moves on to the next round of the knockout system.

Olympia 2022: Alpine skiing live on TV and live stream - where are the races shown?

Interested sports fans from Germany will get their money's worth at the 2022 Olympics.

Every discipline in the alpine ski competitions is broadcast live on free TV.

As is usual with major sporting events, ARD and ZDF share the broadcasting rights and broadcast alternately from the competition locations.

Alternatively, the competitions can also be followed on the private sports channel Eurosport.

The respective broadcasters also provide live streams for the 2022 Olympics.

As usual, the streams of the public broadcasters can be accessed free of charge via the respective media libraries of ARD and ZDF.

A live stream of the Eurosport program, on the other hand, is subject to a fee.

This requires either a subscription to the Eurosport Player or to the sports streaming platform DAZN.

However, the biggest problem for German TV viewers at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing could be the start time of the respective competitions.

There is a seven-hour time difference between Germany and the Chinese capital.

Since the alpine ski competitions are usually held in the morning when the temperatures are as cool as possible and the slopes are therefore as hard as possible, German sports fans will have to get up early during the 2022 Olympics.
