The Winter Olympics start next week in Beijing.
Felix Neureuther fears that China could manipulate the games.
Munich – The time has come: In a few days, the whole sports world will be looking at China.
Then the 2022 Winter Olympics will start in Beijing.
Of course, the host would like to do particularly well in sport at this prestigious event.
Ex-ski star Felix Neureuther does not see the possibility of possible manipulation as an impossibility!
The former slalom driver expressed his concerns in this regard more than clearly.
"It's easy to manipulate these games, and I think you have to look at it massively," said Neureuther on

, "because otherwise the games would become an absolute farce."

But what exactly does the 37-year-old mean by that?
China is “a country where it is clearly stated that sporting success must be there,” says Neureuther: “And I think they will certainly try every means possible to achieve this sporting success.
And how is it easier to eliminate competition than with a positive corona test?
Nobody controls how the tests are controlled.”
So are the Winter Games threatening to sink into a corona and test chaos?
The Olympic Committee and DOSB President Thomas Weikert see no danger.
However, the German Alpine boss Wolfgang Maier has already expressed his concerns in this regard.
The Winter Games will take place in Beijing from February 2nd to 20th.
Due to the current Omicron wave, there have even been discussions about whether the games should be played at all.
Shortly before the start of the Olympics, Linus Strasser won the Schladming night slalom of all things.
