The track and field athletes of the LAG Mittlere Isar convinced with top placings at the southern Bavarian championship.

And the title hunt continues.

Freising/Munich

– Despite increasing incidence values and high numbers of infections, the first important showdown of the season in the Munich Werner-von-Linde-Halle could take place with the southern Bavarian title fights thanks to a well thought-out hygiene concept based on 2G-Plus. A piece of normality returned for the competitive athletes of the LAG Mittlere Isar - and they were able to take their chance.

Coach Gaby Hagl's U18 quartet lived up to their role as favorites over the 4x200 meter distance and celebrated their first South Bavarian championship title this weekend in a time of 1:49.50 minutes.

Svea Schütte started as the starting runner on lane two, chasing the athletes in front of her.

Johanna Billmeir handed over the baton to Emma Pfluger, who, thanks to her strong sprint performance, started for the LAG relay for the first time.

With a large lead, final runner Lina Bachmann was able to finish the race in a sovereign manner.

Johannes Ehrhardt shines over 800 meters

The protégés of middle-distance trainer Francisco Munoz were also looking forward to these championships: "Finally a competition where you can compete with others and see where you currently stand," said Munoz protégé Johannes Ehrhardt happily.

Ehrhardt was more than satisfied with a strong second place in the men's 800 meters (1:57.12 minutes) and fourth place in the 400 meters (53.18 seconds).

Hannah Schreiber had already shown at the German championships last year that she was made for the middle distance.

Her achievements at the start of the season are impressive: in 2:24.08 minutes she completed the 800 meter distance for the U18s - and was second fastest.

As a beginner, she also dared to do the 3,000 meters.

“Except for the stuffy air, the run felt good.

I actually thought that 15 laps in the hall would be quite long.

But that wasn't the case.” Nimble as she is, she crossed the finish line in 11:03.45 minutes and secured second place.

Successful young athlete: Henry von Haniel celebrated a double victory in his age group M 14 in hurdles and shot put.

The first competition can cause excitement.

Full of adrenaline and with a very fast initial pace, Hannah Garreis started the first two laps of the 800 meter distance.

The clock stopped for her at a remarkable 2:22.72 minutes, which meant third place.

"I broke down on the last two laps, next time there's definitely more potential," reflects W15 starter Hannah.

The third in the group of Freising middle distance athletes, Emilia Anneser, completed her first 800 meters this year in a time of 2:32.95 minutes and took sixth place in the W 15 age group.

Full program for Lina Bachmann

The technical disciplines and the sprint distances were not neglected for the LAG at the weekend either.

Lina Bachmann had a full program with the long jump, the triple jump, the 60-meter run and the relay.

In her parade discipline, the triple jump, Lina tried a new approach, which ultimately did not work optimally.

However, she was satisfied with a jump of 10.42 meters and a third place in the U18s.

With 8.27 seconds over the 60 meters in the preliminary heat, Lina just missed making it into the final.

A delay in the start of the relay got in the way of her long jump.

Nevertheless, she mastered the six jumps and at 4.99 meters just missed the five meter mark.

Johanna Billmeir (W 15) was rewarded with a strong lead over the 60 meters with a starting place in the final.

Johanna took this opportunity and sprinted to second place with a new best time (8.34 seconds).

At 4.92 meters at the start of the season, she was not yet able to surpass the longed-for five meters in the long jump, but her distance still brought her fifth place.

As the youngest of the bunch, Johanna took the opportunity to compete with the older age group in the triple jump: with 9.90 meters, she really fired up the older competitors and was able to leave three athletes behind.

Jana Schüler is the only one who manages 1.70 meters

After a long training break, Christopher Kalweit was able to look forward to a start over the 60 meters: In 7.78 seconds he sprinted to the finish as the fourth fastest in his M 15 age group.

Mara Schützbach set a new personal best in Munich over 60 meters with 8.68 seconds.

In view of the strong training performance, supervisor Hagl is optimistic that there is still room for improvement.

The U20 athlete finished the 200 meters in eleventh place in a time of 28.45 minutes.

But that's not all: High jump talent Jana Schüler from Dorfen continued her strong performances of the previous year at the start of the season.

She was the only one in her U20 age group to jump 1.70 meters.

Henry von Haniel delivered a successful three-way battle in the M 14 age group: he achieved a double victory in the hurdles (9.44 seconds) and in the shot put (12.02 meters).

His great day's performance was completed with second place in the long jump (4.92 meters).

He was a whopping four centimeters short of first place.

Niklas Hintz leaves everyone behind

In the men's race, Niklas Hintz put up a thrilling hurdles duel: in the end, he was ahead of the curve over the 60 meters in a time of 9.01 seconds and was able to celebrate the title.

Philip Selbach imitated Niklas in his class M 14 and also catapulted himself to first place with 1.60 meters in the high jump.

In the W 14, Emilia Kurz took home the runner-up title – she completed the 60 meter hurdles in 9.59 seconds.

Vincent Bachmayr also made it onto the podium in his U18 age group: in the 60-meter hurdles he took third place with a time of 8.86 seconds.

A strong time in the 60-meter lead was enough for Nicolas Vivas Hucke to qualify for the final of the M14.

9.18 seconds meant fifth place for him.

And Lukas Hofmann (M 15) was happy about two top ten finishes: he came sixth in the shot put (10.64 meters) and seventh (9.40 seconds) over the 60 meter hurdles.

However, there is no long breather for the successful track and field athletes of the LAG Mittleren Isar.

Because the Bavarian championships are already on Saturday and Sunday.
