The Erding Gladiators only play one game this weekend in the Bayernliga relegation round.
On Friday evening (8 p.m.) EC Pfaffenhofen is a guest in the Stadtwerke Erding Arena – on Sunday the team coached by Thomas Vogl has no games.
However, there are again changes in the squad, two players have said goodbye.
earthing
- Anyone who watched the Gladiators coach in November and December saw a thoughtful, sullen, almost depressed person.
It just didn't go well, due to the fact that he could only muster an emergency squad due to injuries and illnesses, and so the championship round was ultimately missed by a wide margin.
But since last week, when the Gladiators got two wins at the start of the relegation round, Vogl has had a completely different charisma.
He seems relaxed, relaxed and can laugh again.
"My wife also said that I'm my old self again," he says with a grin, adding: "It was a tough year." The new year should be better.
So Vogl hopes “that we can take the next step towards staying up against Pfaffenhofen.
Three wins at the start would look good.”
Although the Gladiators won the last home game in the qualifying round against Paffenhofen 6:4, Vogl warns: "There was nothing more at stake for them." Tonight he expects an aggressive, fighting Pfaffenhofen squad.
Most recently, the Eishogs had won a point in the 5: 6 defeat after extra time in Königsbrunn.
The Erdinger coach knows: "We are the hunted, we are the favourites, nobody has anything to lose against us."
He's optimistic for today, he had the whole squad in training.
“Everyone is there, you can tell.
A real jolt went through the team,” he enthuses.
"This week you saw what opportunities we have - every training session was great."
Two men from the starting squad of the season have meanwhile said goodbye: Timo Borrmann for health reasons, Alex Gantschnig for personal reasons.
But these losses do not weigh too heavily, because Borrmann was only used twelve times, Gantschnig only seven times.
In addition, the gladiators in the squad - with foresight - have already upgraded.
When asked if he regrets not playing on Sunday, Vogl shakes his head.
"It's good for the boys to have a weekend for the family and for themselves," says Vogl with a relaxed smile.
"It's good for all of us."
