LeBron James from the Los Angeles Lakers has been called up again for the all-star game of the North American professional league NBA and has thus achieved a special mark.

The 37-year-old drew level with basketball legend Kobe Bryant, who died two years ago, with 18 nominations for the traditional selection game between the Western and Eastern Conferences.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar remains at the top with 19 nominations.

James will also captain the West squad, which also includes the Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry, due to the majority of fan votes.

His Eastern counterpart is superstar Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets.

The All-Star-Game takes place in Cleveland on February 20th, German professionals are not there.

Last year, James criticized that there should be an all-star game despite the tight schedule in the NBA.

He still played, if only for 13 minutes.

In November 2020, the NBA initially canceled the All-Star weekend planned for spring 2021 in Indianapolis.

James had to sit out injured

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers' ebb and flow in the NBA continued.

The Lakers lost 87-105 at the Philadelphia 76ers and remain mid-table in the league with 24 wins and 25 losses.

James had to sit out at short notice with a knee injury.

In his absence, Anthony Davis towered over the Lakers with 31 points and 12 rebounds, while Russell Westbrook also contributed 20 points.

But this was not enough to win.

The best player on the 76ers side was center Joel Embiid with 26 points.
