The Taekwondo Association announced today (Friday) the appointment of Yehuda Maayan as chairman, who will replace Samson Chai Yosef.
The current chairman has announced that he is retiring after 20 years of contributing to the industry, in which the industry has grown, grown and achieved many achievements, including an Olympic medal.
Chai Yosef will from now on serve as the honorary president of the association.
Chai Yosef said at the end of his term: "I thank Mr. Yehuda Maayan for accepting the challenge and joining the Taekwondo family.
I am confident that he will do a great job and march the industry to continued success in the years to come. '
Yehuda Maayan headed the sailing industry in Israel (1996-2012) during his heyday, including winning a world championship and culminating in an Olympic gold medal at the 2004 Athens Games (Gal Friedman).
Maayan has served for years as a member of the Olympic Committee and the Executive Board, and is a former Olympic cruiser.

Upon taking office, Maayan said: "The taekwondo industry has a great future in Israeli sports, as an industry that brought an Olympic medal, the goal in Paris 2024 is to double the delegation to the Games and bring another Olympic medal to Israel, along with increasing the pyramid base of competitors in Israel."
The association's director general, Adv. Noa Shamida, summed up the welcome move: "It is a great honor that Yehuda agreed to lead the taekwondo industry. I know that together and together we will continue to work hard to continue to bring pride and success to the industry and the State of Israel."
