The Beijing Olympics begin.

Despite all the turmoil in China, this is a highlight for winter sports fans.

But which channels are broadcasting the spectacle?

The big Olympic TV check.

Beijing - No sooner was the Olympics, it's already the Olympics again.

Six months after the closing ceremony of the Summer Games in Tokyo, the Winter Games in Beijing will start on Friday (February 4th).

ARD, ZDF and Eurosport will broadcast live for 17 days - and want to make viewers interested in winter sports despite politics and Corona.

Even if stars and medals are to be the focus, many things will be different in China than at the Olympics.

ARD team boss Christoph Netzel expects "the most complicated games of all time" for television.

ZDF sports director Thomas Fuhrmann hopes for undisturbed Olympic reports: "We rely on the IOC's commitment to be able to report freely." We reveal how the winter games can be seen on the three stations.

Olympic Winter Games 2022: These are the Beijing broadcast times of ARD, ZDF and Eurosport

After PyeongChang 2018 and Tokyo 2021, the Games will be held in Asia for the third time in a row.

This again means night shifts for Olympic fans.

Because China is seven hours ahead of us, the competitions start at 2 a.m. German time.

For example, the men's downhill race starts on Sunday morning (February 6) at four o'clock.

On the other hand, evening events such as ski jumping next Sunday from twelve o'clock can be seen quite comfortably in the German midday or afternoon.

At 5 p.m. our time it is over in China.

Olympia 2022 on ARD: In Beijing, a women's duo will be the moderator for the first time

ARD: For the first time in a long time, both ARD and ZDF are not reporting from a studio in the Olympic city - but from the joint broadcasting center on Lerchenberg in Mainz.

This is due to the complicated situation in Beijing, but it also saves money.

In the first, Julia Scharf and Jessy Wellmer moderate the long live stretches.

They are celebrating a premiere, as Julia Scharf from BR reveals: "I am incredibly happy that we are the first women's duo to moderate Olympia in the first."

Top experts such as Felix Neureuther (alpine) or Sven Hannawald (ski jumping) analyze the competitions on ARD.

There are only a few reporters on site - of whom Claus Lufen was the first to test positive for Corona.

There are no larger summaries of the Olympics in the main evening program either in the first or in the second.

ARD always shows the most important things at 7:48 p.m.

Up to six live streams run in parallel in the media library, and all competitions can be caught up there.

Olympia 2022 on ZDF: In the second there are many familiar faces to see - surprise in biathlon

On ZDF, Olympia begins on Friday (February 4) at 1 p.m. with the opening ceremony.

Just like the ARD, the ZDF also broadcasts around 120 hours live – i.e. 15 hours a day.

In the studio is the duo Katrin Müller-Hohenstein and Rudi Cerne, who are just as reliable as the experts from Marco Büchel (alpine) to Toni Innauer (ski jumping).

Olympia 2022 at Eurosport: "The home of the Olympic Games" brings out the big guns

Eurosport, 'the home of the Olympics', is once again broadcasting 24/7 with a bang. 300 hours can be seen for free on Eurosport 1. Another 700 hours are available in the stream at Joyn+ for 6.99 euros per month - with the first month and thus the entire games for testing being free. With an HD+ subscription for six euros a month and satellite reception, Eurosport Beijing 2022 is the only German broadcaster to show it in 4K.

The attraction of the program should be the virtual Olympic studio "The Cube", which looks as if it were built directly into a mountain face.

There, experts from Fritz Dopfer and Vicky Rebensburg (alpine skiing) to Aljona Savchenko (figure skating) and Martin Schmitt (ski jumping) explain everything with the help of the latest technology, with 3D athletes jumping off the hill or bobsledding in the studio.

The highlight show with Fabian Hambüchen always runs at 5 p.m. and 9.45 p.m.
