Summary: Manchester United - Middlesbrough 1: 1 (Sport 1)
The frustrating season of Manchester United continues, although it seems that last night (Friday) the Reds managed to reach a new low when they were eliminated from the English Cup in the fourth round after a loss in a penalty shootout to Middlesbrough in the sub-league.
Jaydon Sancho put the Reds ahead in the 25th minute, but the visitors came back in the 64th minute and after 15 accurate kicks from the penalty spot, young Anthony Alanga kicked over the frame and caused a dismissal.

Cristiano Ronaldo missed Pendel in the first half, but the one who was the tragic hero is of course Alanga, who was defended by his coach Ralph Rangnik after the loss: "We are very disappointed, this loss was unnecessary. We had to kill the game in the first half, we could lead 0: 3 or 0 "4. We did not defend well and we were exposed to explosive attacks. Alanga? The players supported him, it is football and it also happens to more experienced players than him. We trained well in recent weeks and played well tonight in the first half so we are disappointed."
For United, this is a continuation of the dismal balance in the penalty shootout, as out of the last eight times they have won only once.

In the shadow of the dismissal, what became the talk of the day was Middlesbrough's equalizer, approved in light of a change in the kingdom's VAR laws.
The guest player, Duncan Watmore, took control of the ball with his hand before cooking for Matt Crocs, but the referees claim the hand contact was unintentional.
According to the rules changed this year in England, if a non-conqueror player touches the ball in his hand unintentionally, the goal must be approved.
Rangnick had a hard time understanding how the goal was calculated and claimed: "How could it be that the touch of the hand was by mistake if he took control of the ball? It is clear that the goal should not have been considered."
Winning manager Chris Wilder admitted: "We were lucky and took advantage of opportunities. The decisions made at VAR have changed since I left the Premier League last season. I immediately thought there was a hand touch, I thought the goal would be disqualified, but thankfully it did not happen."
Watmore tried to defend himself and said: "It was completely by mistake. It's amazing to be involved in the goal that Matt Crocs scored, we were together at United in the same age group."
Past players also had a hard time understanding the refereeing decision, when the ex-Reds, Peter Schmeichel was furious: "There was a touch of a hand, we were robbed."
Former England international footballer and current commentator Gary Lineker claimed: "The decision is right given the absurd law. The touch of the hand is completely unintentional but if he had scored the goal himself he would have been disqualified. The law was fine by now and made him ridiculous."
