Ski district cup: Two clubs really cleaned up

There were no district cup races for almost two years - because of Corona.

Now it was time again.

In the race at the Steckenberg, two clubs in particular collected top places.

District - finally district cup again - that was the motto for almost 300 children and young people who had recently come to the Steckenberg in Unterammergau.

TSV Oberammergau organized the first of four events this winter.

A giant slalom was on the program.

The last district cup race to date took place in March 2020.

After that, the corona pandemic slowed down the racing series for the ski clubs in the Weilheim-Schongau district and the surrounding neighboring clubs.

Given the long break, the young ski racers were obviously keen to compete.

286 participants had registered, so it was "one of the larger district cups in recent years," says Gabi Irrek from TSV Weilheim.

The TSV division and SC Lauterbach sent the largest contingents onto the slopes, each with 31 athletes.

In the end, both clubs were also the most successful in terms of top placements.

Both Weilheim and Lauterbach achieved eleven podium finishes.

The balance sheets of TSV Bernbeuren (8/of which six wins) as well as DAV Peißenberg (5) and SC Hohenfurch (5) are also impressive.

Children:

167 girls and boys born between 2016 and 2010 competed in the five children's classes.

Three young athletes from TSV Bernbeuren were right at the top of the podium: Simon Geisenhof (Children I male), Charlotte Witter (Children IV female) and Jakob Geisenhof (Children IV male).

The boys in class "Children IV" (born 2011) had the closest decision.

Jakob Geisenhof won there by just two tenths of a second over Felix Ramsayer (BSC Oberhausen).

In addition to TSV Bernbeuren, four other district clubs also presented class winners.

Charlotte Schwinghammer (children II female) from BSC Oberhausen, Fabian Schuster (children III male) from SC Lauterbach, Maria Beschta (children V female) from SV Wildsteig and Vincent Rambach (children V male) from SC Peiting won.

Pupils:

Among the pupils (born 2006 to 2009), TSV Weilheim was the most successful with six podium finishes.

One reason for this was that there were many training days in advance, according to the TSV in a statement.

In the boys of the "Student IV" class (born 2006), the Weilheimers clearly dominated the events and ultimately held the top four places: Paul Irrek won ahead of Anton Fuchs von Bimbach (0.40 seconds back) and Wolfgang Mahn ( 0.59 seconds back).

Jonathan Fischer completed the TSV phalanx in fourth place.

SC Lauterbach also did well with five places among the top three. In the “Students IV female) there was a double victory for the team: Luzia Fendt was first, Marie Lory (0.34 seconds back) took second place. The DAV Peißenberg did the same in the “pupils II male”: David Stowasser won there with a lead of 62 hundredths over club colleague Benjamin Klein. The battle for the day's victory was particularly close for the boys of "Schüler I" (born 2009). Hannes Halmburger (SC Murnau) prevailed over Robin Pixner (TSV Weilheim) by just 13 hundredths.

Youth:

The boys in the "Youth II" class (born 2003 to 2001) were particularly excited.

In the end, only 23 hundredths of a second separated the winner, Jonathan Klein (DAV Peißenberg), and the runner-up, Nico Floritz (WSV Peiting-Ramsau).

The other ten podium places among the youngsters were exclusively occupied by drivers from SC Lauterbach (4), TSV Bernbeuren (3) and SC Hohenfurch (3).

Sina Eckert (Youth I, female) and Alicia Eckert (Youth II, female) from TSV Bernbeuren and Thomas Fendt (Youth I, male) from SC Lauterbach were the other winners of the day.

Outlook:

A total of four district cup events are on the program this winter.

The next competition - a slalom - will take place on the weekend of 12./13.

February.

The host is SC Lauterbach.
