Melbourne Victory, led by Tony Popovich, was crowned the Australian FA Cup champions after defeating Central Coast Mariners 2-1 in the final.
Victory will meet in the qualifiers for the AFC Champions League with Japan's Vissel Kobe, who finished third in the Japan Premier League last season.
The final was held in Melbourne yesterday evening, after which the winning team qualified to compete in the qualifying rounds for the AFC Champions League.
"Winning is very important for the team," said Popovic, who coached Victory in June last year. "We got an additional bonus, which is qualifying for the qualification rounds for the AFC Champions League, and this is what we aspired to and succeeded."
