Zhangjiakou - On Sunday, February 6th, things will get serious for ski jumpers: The first medal decision at the Olympics is pending.

The defending champion on the normal hill is the German Andreas Wellinger - he will not be able to defend his title because he was not nominated by national coach Stefan Horngacher.

There are five athletes for the DSV: Markus Eisenbichler, Karl Geiger, Stephan Leyhe, Constantin Schmid and Pius Paschke.

Geiger and Eisenbichler are among the top jumpers and therefore also among the medal contenders.

However, the DSV-Adler can't cope with the brand new ski jump in the Chinese mountains.

Neither Geiger nor Eisenbichler found consistency in qualifying and training.

"It's going to be a tight squeeze that will get even better by tomorrow," analyzed national coach Horngacher.

After Geiger's weak training jumps, colleague Eisenbichler felt compelled to console him.

“You just try to build him up a bit and find nice words.

- like mom does when you're sad." Sunday at 12 noon will show whether the construction work has borne fruit.

Then the first of the two rounds begins.
