"Mammuts" clearly on the upswing despite defeat

It wasn't enough to win again, but the "mammoths" of EA Schongau still showed an upward trend at ESV Buchloe.

And there was a point too.

Schongau – No comparison to the botched home game against EHC Klostersee two days earlier was the appearance of EA Schongau in the Bayernliga promotion round at ESV Buchloe.

In the guest appearance with the "Pirates", the protégés of coach Rainer Höfler were almost the old ones again.

84 seconds before the end they conceded the 3:3, finally they had to admit defeat in the extra time with 3:4 (0:1, 1:1, 2:1, 0:1).

“The late goal was unfortunate, but there was nothing wrong with the performance.

The boys played well,” said Coach Höfler after winning the first point in the promotion round.

"The game was fast and balanced, although I saw us a little bit better in each third," judged Höfler, who was only able to muster eight strikers and six defenders due to the absence of Tobias Findl (groin problems).

After hitting the post, “mammoths” become bolder

After the 1:10 home debacle against Klostersee two days earlier, the motto of the “Mammuts” was initially: defend well.

The guests also succeeded in doing this.

They were also lucky when Buchloe's Markus Vaitl hit the post (6').

In the course of the first round, the Schongauer became more and more courageous.

Roman Tomanek failed at the best chance of the Schongauer but at ESV goalkeeper Johannes Wiedemann (15th).

Shortly thereafter, the “Pirates” were able to celebrate when their top scorer Michal Petrak used the first advantage for ESV to make it 1-0 (16th).

Right at the beginning of the middle section, Petrak struck again when he didn't give EAS goalkeeper Daniel Blankenburg a chance after a solo – 2:0 (23rd).

However, the guests were not shocked.

After the hosts had received three penalties in quick succession, Tomanek used Schongau's double advantage to make it 1-2 (30').

Daniel Holzmann then had the equalizer on his bat.

However, his chance to counterattack was denied by the Buchloer goalkeeper (32nd).

The game went back and forth in the final round as well.

The "Mammuts" slowed down the Buchloer again and again with good body play.

"There were hardly any chances for ESV from the game," reported Höfler, whose team was then rewarded for their committed performance.

The Schongauers were awarded a penalty and Tomanek (43rd) sunk it to make it 2-2.

Shortly thereafter, the team of referees also decided on a penalty for the home side.

However, Vaitl found his master in the strong defending Blankenburg (47th).

Both teams gave nothing in the final phase until Florian Höfler gave EAS the lead for the first time on a power play (55th).

However, the Schongauers did not bring the narrow lead to the finish line, as ESV captain David Strodel shot the target to make it 3:3 (59th).

Decision after 38 seconds in overtime

The momentum that the Buchloers had gained from the equalizer was carried into extra time.

Max Schorer punished a disc loss by the EAS after just 38 seconds with the Buchloer winning goal.

This Tuesday (8 p.m.) the Schongauer team is scheduled to play the catch-up game against TEV Miesbach (8 p.m.) at their home stadium on Lechuferstraße.

Then striker Jason Lavallée makes his comeback after a total of six weeks break due to suspension and the Corona break in Schongau.

In the Bayernliga main round, EAS lost both games (2:7 at home, 3:4 in Miesbach).
