In the crosshairs after the publication by The Sun of a video showing him hitting his cat, Kurt Zouma played Tuesday evening with West Ham against Watford in the Premier League.

And he was copiously whistled by his own supporters each time he took the ball.

From his first ball touched, the 27-year-old French defender received a hostile reception and whistles fed from the stands of the London Olympic Stadium where the Hammers play.

Kurt Zouma has been in turmoil since the broadcast of a video shot at his home: we see him hitting his cat, while laughter accompanies the gestures of the player.

The Frenchman then apologized for his behavior towards his cat.

“I also want to say how sorry I am to everyone who was upset by the video.

I want to assure everyone that our two cats are perfectly fine and healthy.

They are loved and cherished by our entire family, and this behavior was an isolated incident that will not happen again,” he explained.

For his part, his club condemned his behavior.

“We have spoken to Kurt and will deal with the matter internally, but we would like to make it clear that we do not tolerate animal cruelty under any circumstances,” detailed the London club in a press release.

According to The Sun, Zouma, who has just returned from injury, lost his temper after the poor feline "accidentally broke some kind of vase and ripped a light fixture from the kitchen cupboard".
