A man in a jogging suit enters a kitchen, carrying a cat in his left hand.
Then he drops her, swings and kicks her like a ball. The cat flies about two meters, then runs away.
Someone is filming the scene, laughter can be heard.
Later, a child is seen lifting the cat onto a table.
The man swings back and knocks her down.
This video was published by the British tabloid The Sun and caused outrage.
The man tormenting the animal is Kurt Zouma.
He is one of the best central defenders in the Premier League. In the summer he switched from Chelsea to West Ham United for around 35 million euros.
He is the current French international, the world champion nation.
Apparently his brother Yoan filmed the scenes and uploaded the video to Snapchat.
This is what the “Sun” and other British media report.
»I want to assure you that our cats are doing very well«
"I am very sorry.
There is no excuse for my behavior, which I sincerely regret,” the “Sun” quoted the 27-year-old defender.
“I also want to say how sorry I am to everyone who was hurt by the video.
And I want to assure you that our two cats are doing very well and healthy," he said. "They are loved and valued by our entire family and this behavior was an isolated case that will not be repeated."
According to "Sun", the reason for the violent scenes was that the cat had devastated the house, among other things, a vase broke, the newspaper quoted an unspecified source from Zouma's environment.
West Ham United have also commented on the incident.
The club "unreservedly condemns the actions of our player Kurt Zouma in the video that has been circulated," the BBC quoted the London club as saying.
They have already spoken to the Frenchman and will "handle the matter internally, but we want to make it clear that we do not condone animal cruelty in any way".
