FC Bayern is allowed to play in the round of 16 of the Champions League at RB Salzburg in front of a full hut.

And it gets even better: more spectators will be allowed in home games in the future.

Salzburg/Munich – When FC Bayern* comes, the hut burns.

It's the game of the year for the hosts, and the stadium sells out every seat.

It was almost always like that when Bayern traveled in the past.

Of course, all of this no longer applied during the corona pandemic with viewer restrictions.

Now the German record champions can finally play in front of a sold-out house again - and that in the Champions League.

On February 16 (9 p.m.), FC Bayern will be visiting FC Red Bull Salzburg in the round of 16 of the premier class.

Up to 30,000 fans can return to the local Red Bull Arena, as the Austrian club announced.

This is possible because on Tuesday the federal government lifted the upper limit for open-air events from Saturday (February 12), which means that the stadium can be used to capacity.

"We are very pleased that a sensible and responsible solution was found shortly before this historic game for the whole of Austria," said RBS Managing Director Stephan Reiter.

"It's not just about football, but about many other events that - mainly because they are held in the open air and in combination with other security measures - pose almost no risk.

"I would like to thank all partners and the local authorities in advance for the implementation of this forthcoming tour de force, and we look forward to a football festival," Reiter continued.

When asked by

, the Austrian series champion confirmed that, despite a "mammoth logistical task", the full contingent of almost 30,000 tickets would be made available.

The 2G certificate is a prerequisite for participation in an event.

According to this, you have to be vaccinated or recovered to attend the first Champions League round of 16 game in the history of the Salzburg club.

In addition, the FFP2 mask requirement continues to apply.

There is currently an upper limit of 2000 people for events in Austria.

In view of the stable situation in the hospitals, the local organizers can now look forward to easing despite the high number of new infections.

FC Bayern: More spectators in the Allianz Arena

And the home fans of FC Bayern can now look forward to more tickets for the games in the Allianz Arena.

The sports clubs in the Free State can fill their stadiums with spectators up to a capacity of 50 percent, and a maximum of 15,000 spectators can be admitted, said Bavaria's Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann (CSU).

Standing places are also allowed again.

In sports, the 2G plus rule and an FFP2 mask requirement still apply.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, the new regulation will apply from Wednesday (February 9).

For major sporting events, the limit was recently 25 percent and a maximum of 10,000 spectators - that's how many came to the top Bundesliga game between FC Bayern and RB Leipzig last Saturday.

Bayern's next home game is scheduled for February 20 against SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

On March 5th, Leverkusen will come to Munich, before RB Salzburg will be visiting on March 8th for the round of 16 second leg in the Champions League.
