11.02 a.m .:

The competition is over, the final result is in!

Quentin Fillon Maillet (France) wins gold in the singles, Anton Smolski (Belarus) takes silver and Johannes Thingnes Boe (Norway) snags bronze.

In the end, Germany had a good result, even if there were no medals.

Above all, the appearances of Roman Rees and Benedikt Doll give hope for the upcoming races and especially for the relay.

Benedikt Doll looks back on the race in an ARD interview: “The wind was better today, so it was clear that one or zero mistakes would have been needed for a medal.

I don't really know if I should cry or if I should be happy.

It was a good race, but you can buy relatively little from the placement.

I really would have liked a few spectators, I felt very alone on the track.

It wasn't easy today.

But the race gives me a lot of confidence.

I know I'm fast and the shooting is fine too."

Roman Rees draws a good conclusion: “I thought eighth place was realistic for me.

With zero penalties I would have had a chance on the podium.

But for me it was an all-round successful race.

At the end I was able to really put something on it and was lively.

That's a good sign."

Olympia/Biathlon: Men's singles in the live ticker - Doll and Rees scrape the podium

10.54 a.m .:

In the end, you simply have to emphasize Quentin Fillon Maillet’s strong performance – with the same shooting performance, he took more than a minute from Benedikt Doll on the round.

The Frenchman is a well-deserved Olympic champion who suffered a number of strokes of fate four years ago in Pyeongchang.

His father and his girlfriend got cancer.

These circumstances make his victory all the more special today.

10.46 a.m .:

Very strong last lap by Roman Rees!

Somewhere he has found reserves of strength and actually takes almost 20 seconds off Tarjei Boe.

This gives hope for further competitions.

Rees is in seventh place behind Doll and will be satisfied.

10.44 a.m .:

Doll finishes sixth!

On the last lap he lost his strength, it wasn't enough for the big attack.

Nevertheless, it's a good result, even if no medals go to Germany today.

10.41 a.m .:

The top is slowly being reached, it will probably not change much!

Quentin Fillon Maillet can cool the champagne.

Despite two mistakes, he will probably become Olympic champion here, behind him the Belarusian Anton Smolski can very likely be happy about silver.

Bronze probably goes to Johannes Thingnes Boe.

10:38:

This will be a good result for Roman Rees!

The German keeps his nerve in the last standing stage and will probably find himself in the top ten.

Run, Roman!

Olympia/Biathlon: Men's singles in the live ticker - Doll sensation on the last lap?

10.36 a.m .:

Doll is too far behind, the chances of a medal are dwindling!

Nevertheless, he hangs everything in again on the last lap.

Maybe he'll still make the sensation.

10.30 a.m .:

The first shot misses!

But Doll remains strong and clears all the following discs.

Can that still be enough for a medal?

Now he has to unpack the turbo on the last lap.

It's not impossible.

10:28:

Let's go, Benni!

35 seconds down on leader Fillon Maillet before the last standing stage.

10.25 a.m .:

Lesser quarrels!

Two more penalties in the last standing stage, he can do better than that.

All eyes are now on Benni Doll's latest attack.

If he stays cool, a medal beckons.

But don't forget Rees either - unfortunately he misses once on the third shooting.

10.23 a.m .:

Johannes Kühn has crossed the finish line and is six minutes behind.

Not a good race from him.

10:20 a.m.:

Fillon Maillet is about to finish and is 30 seconds ahead of Boe!

This will be the time that the others will now have to adjust to.

10.17 a.m .:

Again zero for Rees!

Does he have to get the coals out of the fire today?

JT Boe is now in the finish, at least he missed Tsvetkov on the last lap.

Olympia/Biathlon: Men's singles in the live ticker - Boe misses at the end

10.15 a.m .:

The race enters its hottest phase.

Johannes Thingnes Boe crosses the finish line straight away, later it will become clear whether the two mistakes were too many or whether it was still enough for a medal.

10.14 a.m .:

Lesser shoots outstandingly lying down.

But the three mistakes in standing break his neck today.

For him it is now about qualifying for the mass start.

10.12 a.m .:

That’s not possible!

Tarjei Boe also gets the first 19 shots on target - but the last one is known to be the hardest.

And he misses it.

Now the Norwegian has to give everything on the final lap.

10.11 a.m .:

Doll is still in the running!

Strong second shooting, good skiing today.

If it sticks to one error, a medal is within reach.

10.09 a.m .:

It remains exciting!

Johannes Thingnes Boe was naked again at the last shooting and missed the target once.

The Russian Tsvetkov could be a surprise - but the 20th of 20 shots goes wide.

The darn last one will probably cost him a medal here.

10.06 a.m .:

Roman Rees has done the best so far in his Olympic debut!

In terms of running, it's not enough for the top athletes, but on the shooting range he remains flawless on the first shooting.

Strong.

10.05 a.m .:

Sturla Holm Laegreid is also a very hot topic.

But the Norwegian shows nerves!

First penalty minute in the first shooting.

Olympia/Biathlon: Men's singles in the live ticker - Lesser shoots out

10.03 a.m .:

What’s suddenly going on with Erik Lesser?

Three penalties in standing, all medal hopes gone!

Too bad for the Thuringian, but that was a completely screwed up shooting.

Tarjei Boe, who remains flawless even after three attacks, does a much better job.

10.01 a.m .:

Benedikt Doll unpacks the visor – and unfortunately does not get away without mistakes!

A mistake in the first shooting is not a reason for resignation, but it is not an optimal start.

9.59 a.m .:

Johannes Thingnes Boe is once again unbeatable on the track today.

But now it's his second prone stage that counts.

One two three four five!

All discs fall, increasing his chances of a medal.

9.58 a.m .:

Benedikt Doll is on the way and will soon shoot for the first time.

The Black Forest is the greatest German hope today.

Can he build on his strong performances in Antholz?

9.57 a.m .:

It’s not yet the Swedes’ games.

Sebastian Samuelsson gets a penalty and is already under pressure.

9.54 a.m .:

You also have to pay attention to Alexander Loginov today.

The Russian is one of the fastest runners and cleans the first shooting.

9.53 a.m .:

Now comes Erik Lesser!

Shooting is his forte - and he shows why!

Hardly any other biathlete shoots faster and safer than Lesser.

Zero mistakes and a great shooting time give hope for today's competition!

Olympia/Biathlon: Men's singles in the live ticker - Fillon Maillet with announcement

9.51 a.m .:

The Norwegian Christiansen is angry about a mistake in the last attempt, compatriot Tarjei Boe also clears all targets in the second shooting.

9.46 a.m .:

Johannes Thingnes Boe does better in the standing position and remains flawless.

But also starting runner Tsvetkov is doing well so far - the Russian is still without a miss.

9.46 a.m .:

Simon Desthieux (France) and Martin Ponsiluoma (Sweden) give up their clean slate right at the start.

Desthieux makes one mistake, Ponsiluoma two.

9.45am:

Strong shooting and zero penalties from Quentin Fillon Maillet.

The Frenchman takes the lead for the time being.

9.43 a.m.: Boldly

corrected, but shoots the first mistake right away!

Numbers two and three follow - too bad!

The German loses all chances at the first shooting.

9.41 a.m .:

Brother Tarjei Boe is also one of the hot favorites to win today.

He cleans in prone and immediately gets an advantage over his brother.

Johannes Kühn immediately unpacks the gun.

9:39 a.m.:

The first runners have arrived at the shooting range.

Prone shooting is Johannes Thingnes Boe's biggest weakness.

The Norwegian misses once and charges the first penalty minute.

He can often compensate for this on the cross-country ski run - even today?

Olympia/Biathlon: Individual men in the live ticker - Kühn starts as the first DSV athlete

9:34 a.m.:

20 kilometers in dull snow and freezing temperatures: Today’s race is a challenge for all athletes and will require a lot of energy.

A total of 700 meters of altitude difference has to be mastered.

9.30 a.m .: The race is on!

Russian Maxim Tsvetkov opens, followed by top favorite Johannes Thingnes Boe.

The first German is Johannes Kühn with starting number eight.

Erik Lesser, Benedikt Doll and Roman Rees follow at some distance.

Update from February 8th, 9.12am:

Biathlon in the morning - what could be nicer?

In 15 minutes the starting signal will be given in Zhangjiakou, today it's the men's turn.

Traditionally, shooting is of paramount importance in the 20-kilometer race.

For each mistake, the athletes are given a one-minute penalty - Denise Herrmann mastered this challenge brilliantly yesterday.

What do men have in their quivers?

First report from February 8th:

Beijing – Germany celebrates biathlon gold!

Denise Herrmann secured the Olympic title in the women's individual over 15 kilometers on Monday.

The jubilation was of course great afterwards - will the men perhaps even go one better on Tuesday?

From 9.30 a.m. it is all about medals today, 20 kilometers and four shootings are on the agenda.

Again there is a penalty minute for each miss, what will be in it for the German biathletes?

Former world champion Benedikt Doll, veteran Erik Lesser, Roman Rees and Johannes Kühn are all on the hunt for medals for the German team.

We are in the live ticker.
