The next biathlon medals were awarded on Tuesday: Benedikt Doll and Roman Rees just missed out on a medal in the individual over 20 kilometers.

Quentin Fillon Maillet (France) wins gold in the singles, Anton Smolski (Belarus) takes silver and Johannes Thingnes Boe (Norway) snags bronze.

In the end, Germany had a good result, even if there were no medals.

Above all, the appearances of Roman Rees and Benedikt Doll give hope for the upcoming races and especially for the relay.

Benedikt Doll looks back on the race in an ARD interview: “The wind was better today, so it was clear that one or zero mistakes would have been needed for a medal.

I don't really know if I should cry or if I should be happy.

It was a good race, but you can buy relatively little from the placement.

I really would have liked a few spectators, I felt very alone on the track.

It wasn't easy today.

But the race gives me a lot of confidence.

I know I'm fast and the shooting is fine too."

Roman Rees draws a good conclusion: “I thought eighth place was realistic for me.

With zero penalties I would have had a chance on the podium.

But for me it was an all-round successful race.

At the end I was able to really put something on it and was lively.

That's a good sign."
