Former FCB star Dietmar Hamann sees Niklas Süle's move to BVB as a "great sporting loss" for FC Bayern.

Lothar Matthäus also congratulates on the transfer coup.

Munich/Dortmund – Borussia Dortmund* seems to have to tick off the championship in the Bundesliga for the tenth time in a row, but the black and yellow were able to give the subscription master a small hit on the transfer market.

Niklas Süle will leave FC Bayern in the summer.

The goal of the national player has also been set this week.

The edgy but agile defender is moving to BVB on a free transfer.

FC Bayern was amazed at Süle's decision and would have expected a move to international competition.

Two former Bayern stars congratulate Dortmund on their transfer coup.

Süle farewell at FC Bayern: Didi Hamann believes in "great sporting loss"

Dietmar Hamann explained to Sky that he had always considered Süle to be "a bit underestimated".

"That's why I didn't understand what Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said, who described him as a 'useful' player.

He's a great player, he's a great sporting loss for Bayern," said Hamann, who came to FC Bayern as a youth and played 143 games for the professionals between 1993 and 1998, scoring ten goals.

The Westphalians usually reach for a different shelf on the transfer market when it comes to their new signings and certainly don't use the Bundesliga giants from the south.

"I wouldn't have thought it possible," said Hamann.

"We've gotten used to the players going from Dortmund to Bayern when they're in their prime and maybe - if they're not that good anymore - go back.

Bayern won't like that," said the 48-year-old.

He'll make Dortmund better for that reason alone, when he's in the dressing room and in the tunnel, and you see the closet in front of you and you know you have Süle in the team.

Süle change: Hamann sees “the best BVB transfer in the last ten years”

Didi Hamann sees Süle as nothing less than "the best BVB transfer in the last ten years".

With Lewandowski, Dembélé, Sancho or Haaland, Dortmund have repeatedly brought in players for little money who have gone for ten or 15 times as much.

"But you never know what's going to happen with them," Hamann explained.

It's completely different with Süle, the 26-year-old is in the "blossoming of his career".

"For Dortmund's self-esteem and perception in the league, it's their best transfer.

If you know that you have such a player in the team, that makes you a little bit bigger," said Hamann on Sky.

"He'll make Dortmund better for that reason alone, when he's in the dressing room and in the tunnel, and you see the closet in front of you and you know you have Süle in the team.

That makes all players three or four percent better.”

Bayern legend Lothar Matthäus congratulates BVB on the Süle coup

Not only Hamann raves about Dortmund's Süle transfer.

With Lothar Matthäus, another Bayern legend congratulates.

"I can only congratulate BVB.

A great transfer.

Getting one of the best German central defenders away from FC Bayern on a free transfer is great,” wrote the national team’s honorary captain in his Sky column.

Süle knows how to win titles.

"He brings experience, quality and certainly a lot of motivation after leaving Bayern," wrote Matthäus.

"He will stabilize the weak Dortmund defensive center and raise it to a higher level.

Well done, Dortmund.” However, the change for Süle was a “sporting step backwards” because it would be difficult for BVB to win titles even with the defensive giant.
