On Wednesday morning, German time, the decision will be made in the women's Olympic slalom.

DSV ace Lena Dürr definitely has a chance of a medal.

Yanqing - Who would have thought it a year ago?

Lena Dürr has been involved in slalom for a long time - but the Munich native only made her breakthrough this season.

Just in time for the Olympics.

She has already climbed onto the podium three times in the current World Cup season.

The 30-year-old wants to crown her career with an Olympic medal on Chinese snow.

The chances of Alpine precious metals aren't exactly high in these games, and Dürr has the best of all on Wednesday.

Ex-Olympic champion Maria Höfl-Riesch sees her "psychological" advantage before the race in Yanqing.

The pressure is on the favorites Mikaela Shiffrin (USA), Petra Vlhova (Slovakia) and Wendy Holdener (Switzerland).

The latter all showed nerves in giant slalom, Shiffrin even dropped out at the seventh gate.

Dürr skipped the giant slalom and fully focused on her favorite discipline, the slalom.

"I gained security from day to day," she told

"Now I'm ready." Dürr herself doesn't like to talk about her chances of a medal.

But, she said, "I don't know that I've had so much fun and joy over the past few years" in what she does.

And that is still the best prerequisite for success.
