Slaven Jokic plays for district classists

The football district has Slaven Jokic back – even as a player.

Last Sunday, the exceptional talent was back on the pitch in an official match for the first time in around five years – in the jersey of the district classist TSV Steinhöring.

– Most recently, the 34-year-old Jokic only worked as a coach.

In the test match at VfB Forstinning III (A-Class 6) he played for the Steinhöringers, where Slaven's father Petar Jokic is in charge as coach.

"Since I'm not currently involved as a coach, I drop by Steinhöring from time to time because I'm bored without football," explains the former regional league player.

At the beginning of December, Slaven Jokic and TSV Amerang went their separate ways after three and a half years of cooperation, including promotion to the district league.

"In Steinhöring I not only meet my father, but also my best friend and old companions.

I have a lot of fun with the guys there,” adds the former professional.

However, he rules out a real comeback as a player.

Use by the Steinhöringer footballers should remain an exception

Jokic sees his future in football on the sidelines, also due to numerous injuries in the past.

"I've had seven knee surgeries.

As far as I can, I just want to move around a bit in Steinhöring.”

Accordingly, there will be no revival of the father-son team Jokic in the football district, as has already been the case in Kirchseeon and Zorneding.

Nevertheless, TSV Steinhöring could use these (storm) qualities.

This showed the preparatory game in Forstinning.

The district classist completed the task with flying colors on the artificial turf pitch and beat the third-placed VfB team with goals from Michael Eglseder (36'), Leonhard Lang (44'), Benjamin Scholz (47') and Johannes Redl (83') with 4th place :0 (2:0) through.

Jokic Junior was involved in combinations worth seeing.

"With ten kilograms overweight, it went quite well," he said afterwards with a wink.

Jokic Senior, the trainer of the Steinhöring guests, was clearer: “With Slaven in the team, there is simply a difference.

He's actually exactly the man we need.” But the coach also had words of praise for the rest of the team: “We were very compact defensively.

That is our goal for the future.

We are making progress."

The Steinhöringer footballers have just under a month to prepare for the start of the second half of the season at TSV Zorneding.

However, Slaven Jokic will (probably) not be there - despite his successful return to the friendly.
