Erding's ice hackers apparently digested the first relegation round defeat in Königsbrunn very well.

Ulm/Erding – Nobody would have expected that: With their strongest performance so far this season, the Erding Gladiators defeated the VfE Ulm/Neu-Ulm Devils 9-0 (2-0, 4-0, 3-0) on Friday evening. goals won.

As feared, the Erdinger squad was smaller than last.

After the absence of Marko Babic, Lars Bernhardt, Sebastian Busch and Dominik Wagner, coach Thomas Vogl only had five defenders and nine forwards available.

Among them the Canadian Tom Callaghan, who this time was preferred to David Hrazdira.

Things got off to a bad start for the Gladiators, as a two-minute penalty against Michael Trox in the first minute was followed by a five-minute penalty against Erik Modlmayr in the third minute, meaning that the visitors had to play a man down for seven minutes.

But thanks to an outstanding goalkeeper Christoph Schedlbauer, a good portion of luck and the enthusiastic cheering of around 50 fans who had traveled with them, this precarious situation could be survived unscathed.

Now the game was balanced.

After a perfect pass from Lukas Krämmer from within his own third, Florian Zimmermann ran alone towards the Ulm goal and made it 1-0 (14th).

The Gladiators now had the Devils under control, built up real pressure towards the end of the first period, and 80 seconds before the end of the period Trox scored to make it 2-0.

In the second period only the gladiators played.

Zimmermann opened the third after 65 seconds with a shot into the goal from an extremely acute angle.

Now the gladiators really enjoyed the game.

Outnumbered, Daniel Krzizok completed a great combination to make it 4-0 (32nd).

Only 47 seconds later, Krzizok released Zimmermann and only had to shoot the disc into an empty goal.

And a good three minutes later, Mark Waldhausen, outnumbered, volleyed the puck and heaved it into the net to make it 6-0.

In the final section, the Gladiators easily played the victory home.

Captain Philipp Michl made it 7:0 (50th) with a man down before Gabriel Gawron with 8:0 (52nd) and Callaghan with 9:0 (56th) celebrated their first goals in the TSV jersey.
