Odell Beckham Jr., the redemption of the rebellious boy of the NFL

The Los Angeles Rams receiver has had a career with too many ups and downs: from being the great promise, hitting rivals and being fired to playing in a Super Bowl

Odell Beckham Jr.'s name shot to worldwide fame with a moment that lasted just seconds.

He was 2014 and he was playing for the New York Giants.

His teammate, Eli Manning, lobbed the oval ball toward the corner of the field.

It seemed like a lost move.

Beckham Jr. looked up at the sky and walked back even though he had a rival from Dallas, Carr, itching to hit him.

He raised his right arm, dove backwards and made an epic catch.

An image of the photographer Al Bello of the moment was awarded the World Press Photo.

The American receiver has had a hectic career in American football.

He was the star in the university division with Louisiana State University, where they value him as "one of the most dynamic players" in the history of the university and highlight one of his qualities: "He scored every time he touched the ball."

In 2014 he was signed by the Giants.

The statistics and the individual performance began to give him a great reputation until the problems began.

In 2015, he went to blows with Josh Norman, of the Carolina Panthers, during a game and Odell Beckham Jr. even gave him a header, something totally prohibited in the NFL.

In 2016, the New York team returned to the

playoffs

after four years of failure.

One day before his match, the player left with other traveling companions on a yacht.

The next day, the Giants would lose to Green Bay.

Beckham Jr., no relation to David Beckham, also collected embarrassing moments with the kick net, something that became a mockery in the league.

In 2019, the receiver's situation with the Giants was untenable due to problems in the locker room.

"This was not a business move," he reproached when he was sold to the Cleveland Browns, one of the worst teams in the league.

“This was personal.

They thought they would send me here to die,” he added.

Already as a Browns player he began to recover some of his prestige.

During a game against the Titans, Odell Beckham Jr. broke NFL rules by playing with a $350,000 watch.

“I will still be using it.

Just like I wear it to every practice, when I come here, I go there, I've been wearing it.

I bathe with him.

I just wear it,” he replied.

In his first year with the Browns, at

he did not do well, he accused problems in his back and arms.

In 2020, the Browns raised their pride and made it to the

playoffs

.

They beat the favorite Steelers, but then fell to Kansas City.

Despite that, it was a good year.

And, in a sea change in his career, Beckham Jr. was fired from Cleveland over a video in which his father criticized

quarterback

Baker Mayfield for deliberately not passing the ball to his son.

Without a team, Beckham Jr. was contested by Kansas City and Green Bay, but was signed by the Rams.

The initial plan in 2021 was for him to be the replacement for Robert Woods, but he was injured and opened the door for him.

Thanks to a good relationship in the Los Angeles franchise, the controversial receiver regained his shine and contributed to the offense to take the Super Bowl by storm.

In the postseason, he has received the ball 19 times and has covered 236 yards.

Redemption can be completed if he, along with his team, manages to beat the Cincinnati Bengals, who have never won a Super Bowl.
