Chelsea suffered in the final of the Club World Cup against Palmeiras São Paulo from Brazil.

It was only 1-1 after 90 minutes and the final went into overtime.

But in the end, the effort for coach Thomas Tuchel's team should pay off - also thanks to Kai Havertz.

In the 117th minute, the German international shot the Premier League club 2-1 and thus victory at the Club World Cup.

The decision was made by penalty.

It was Havertz who led Chelsea to their Champions League win against Manchester City last season.

Before that, Romelu Lukaku (55th minute) had scored in regular time for the Blues, who had had to do without Tuchel in the semifinals against top Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal (1-0).

After surviving the corona infection, Tuchel only joined the team on Friday.

In the final, Raphael Veiga (64th, hand penalty) equalized for Palmeiras.

The Brazilian Luan saw the red card in stoppage time after an emergency brake.

For the German world coach, after winning the European Supercup and the premier class, it is the third title with Chelsea since he started in January 2021.

It is the first win at the Club World Cup for the Londoners.

The Premier League club had reached the final back in 2012, losing 1-0 to Corinthians São Paulo after beating Bayern Munich on penalties in the Champions League final at the Allianz Arena.
