The Gladiators made the six-point weekend perfect with a 5-0 win against Pfaffenhofen.

Erding

– The Erding Gladiators put a flawless weekend on ice.

The team of coach Thomas Vogl followed up the 9:0 on Friday in Ulm with a 5:0 (1:0, 2:0, 2:0) against EC Pfaffenhofen on their own ice on Sunday evening.

Erding's coach had the same squad as on Friday, five defenders and nine forwards.

But Pfaffenhofen went one better or one under, because Eishogs coach Steve Pepin had only eight strikers available in addition to five defenders.

Both teams looked for their salvation from the start on the offensive.

It went up and down quickly and both goalkeepers were challenged from the start.

The greatest chance came in the 5th minute for Philipp Michl, who was wonderfully freed by Michael Trox, but failed because of Eishogs keeper Thomas Hingel.

The Pfaffenhofener had a few dangerous shots in the first third, but the Gladiators were decisive in the game.

Tom Callaghan was unlucky and failed after a solo on Hingel (16th).

100 seconds before the end of the period, the Canadian was still able to celebrate, after a quick break he beat the Eishogs goalkeeper to make it 1-0.

At the beginning of the middle section, the Erdingers came under a lot of pressure as they had to survive being outnumbered 3:5 for a minute and a half.

With luck, commitment and Schedlbauer, this tricky phase was survived.

But the Eishogs kept pushing and were now the dominant team.

But right in the middle of Pfaffenhofen's urge period, it was Erding's new signing Callaghan who completed a solo to make it 2-0 (35').

And just 39 seconds later, Daniel Krzizok made it 3-0.

This double whammy had left its mark on the Eishogs.

They kept trying to make the game exciting again, but the pressure wasn't that strong for a long time.

The Gladiators now controlled the game, acted from a controlled defense and repeatedly countered dangerously.

When the extremely strong Callaghan hung up for Michl in a quick counter-attack and the Gladiators captain scored 4-0, the decision was made.

The final point was set in the 58th minute by Florian Zimmermann, who completed an individual action to make it 5:0.

The fact that Callaghan missed a penalty 20 seconds before the end didn't matter anymore.
