At the end of the preliminary round, the German national ice hockey team will face off against the USA.
After the game it will be clear how the DEB selection will continue.
We deliver the information about the game.
Munich – Is Germany going for precious metals again?
Winning the silver medal at the 2018 Olympic Games in PyeongChang came as a complete surprise.
It almost even went gold, but in the overtime of the dramatic finale, the Russian athletes had more staying power.
But of course the DEB team wants to build on the greatest success in the history of the association.
The chances are not bad that there will be something to celebrate again at the Olympics.
Because of the corona pandemic, the world's best ice hockey league NHL, like four years ago - at that time for economic and sporting reasons - is not providing any players for the tournament, which is why top teams such as the USA, Canada, Sweden or Finland have to do without their big stars .
Germany vs USA: NHL stars like Draisaitl and Seider are missing
Germany will also have to do without Leon Draisaitl or Moritz Seider.
But national coach Toni Söderholm has put together a powerful team.
Among them are ten silver medalists with goalie Danny aus den Birken as well as Jonas Müller, Moritz Müller, Dominik Kahun, Matthias Plachta, Yasin Ehliz, Marcel Noebels, Leonhard Pföderl, David Wolf and Patrick Hager.
The DEB team bought the ticket for Beijing directly.
The selection currently occupies fifth place in the world rankings and drew attention with fourth place at the World Cup last year.
It was the best performance since 1953.

Germany vs. USA: Replay of the bronze medal match at the 2021 World Cup
At the Olympic tournament with twelve teams, Germany will face Canada, the USA and host China in a group of four.
The game will be played in the National Hallenstadion and Wukesong Stadium, both arenas have 18,000 seats.
At the end of the preliminary round, the USA is waiting on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at 2:10 p.m.
It is the new edition of the game for bronze at the most recent World Cup, which the fourth in the world rankings clearly won 6:1.
The Olympics, on the other hand, did not go well at all, and in 2018 the United States disappointed with seventh place.
A silver medal was last awarded in 2010.
The US squad includes 15 college players, the remaining eight players earn their money in Europe.
Only Brian O'Neill, who works for the Finnish club Jokerit in the Russian KHL, was there at the shame in Pyeongchang.

Ice hockey at the 2022 Olympics: after the preliminary round there is a second chance at the quarter-finals
After the preliminary round, a fourth game is also certain.
While the three group winners and the best runner-up advance directly to the quarter-finals, the remaining eight teams will play out the other quarter-finalists in four games on February 15.
Where the second-best runner-up meets the worst of all teams, the worst group runner-up meets the second-worst of all teams, etc.
Olympic premiere: Toni Söderholm only joined the DEB in 2019 and was not yet part of the Pyeongchang coup.
