"In the coming years, high-level athletes will come to the Tel Aviv Marathon." Israel today

The press conference ahead of the Tel Aviv 2022 marathon was held today (Monday) for the big event that will take place this year on February 25, to which 32,000 people have currently registered, including 500 who will come from abroad. 

This year the marathon will try in every way to preserve the environment, when it has been decided not to issue more booklets, the water along all the tracks will be served in recycled glasses and not in bottles, the bags to be distributed will be recycled, and the shirts can be donated. 

The event will offer five tracks this year: a marathon (42,195 km), a half marathon (21 km), a 10 km race, a 5 km race and a mini marathon that will take place two days before. 

This time too, the starting point of all the allotments will be located on Rokach Boulevard between Ganei Yehoshua Park and the fairgrounds, from where the runners will continue to the tracks marked by colors that will differentiate between them and pass through the main sites of Tel Aviv-Yafo.

Tel Aviv-Yafo Mayor Ron Huldai: "Excited to reopen the marathon. Who does not remember, Tel Aviv Marathon was the last mass event held before the closures and sporting events were stopped and we were blessed with two years and what symbolism today is the first mass event after the corona fades.

"I have a line, the marathon gets the standard mark and it will give him the leap and also the peaks that will be set in it will be considered and this will lead to high-level athletes coming in the coming years, when there is going to be an interesting marathon and everyone is already waiting for it." 

Olympic Committee chairwoman Yael Arad said: "The Tel Aviv Marathon is a huge project and part of the city. A marathon is one of the main events at the Olympics and we in Israel are strong in it with eight runners descending from 2:10 hours and it is natural that Tel Aviv Marathons in Israel will also reach the highest level. "
