ARD expert Neureuther is absent from the Olympic giant slalom: "I'm really, really sorry"

ARD expert Felix Neureuther is absent from the studio on Sunday and was unable to follow the giant slalom live at the 2022 Olympics.

What was the reason?

Beijing – There is the next Corona case in the ARD team for the Beijing Winter Olympics.

The former alpine skiing star and today's expert Felix Neureuther was absent from the Olympic program on Sunday morning in the studio and was only connected via video from the hotel room.

"I'm fine, so I'm fine.

Did the usual corona test tonight before the show and it was positive," said the 37-year-old to presenter Jessy Wellmer.

"Very surprised, I'm also really sorry.

It's a shame we're separated, Jessy."

In addition to his expert work in the studio on Sunday, Neureuther should also have accompanied the men's giant slalom live as a co-commentator, together with ARD reporter Bernd Schmelzer.

Olympia 2022: Neureuther is not the first corona case on ARD

The former ski racer is not the first person affected by Corona on ARD.

Biathlon Olympic champion Arnd Peiffer had recently tested positive for the virus and was unable to appear as an expert in the Olympic studio in Mainz.

Moderator Michael Antwerpes, reporter Lea Wagner and investigative journalist Hajo Seppelt were unable to travel to Beijing because of their infections.

Reporter Claus Lufen had to go into quarantine in Beijing after a positive test and left after a good week.
