Ice hockey at the Olympics: Germany loses against the USA – so it goes on

Olympia 2022 - Germany has completed the preliminary round of the ice hockey tournament with a defeat against the USA.
This is how the DEB team proceeds:
Update from February 13th – 4:45 p.m
.: Despite a good performance, the German national ice hockey team * finished the preliminary round at the Olympic Games in Beijing * with a defeat.
On Sunday (February 13), the team of national coach Toni Söderholm* had to admit defeat to the USA with a narrow margin of 2:3 (1:1, 0:1, 1:1).
This means that Germany is in third place in Group A.
Next Tuesday (February 15/5:10 a.m., CET) the DEB selection will meet Slovakia in the quarter-final qualifier.

The game is initially characterized by many time penalties, from which both teams can capitalize.
Patrick Hager gave the DEB team the lead in the power play after just two minutes, but the US selection reacted unimpressed and equalized a little later through Steven Kampfer (5th).

As the game progresses, a battle-focused encounter with few chances develops.
In the middle section, the USA started powerfully and deservedly took the lead through Matthew Knies (25th).
In the further course, the German selection created good chances, but the Söderholm squad was denied a goal.
Nate Smith (43rd) increases shortly after the restart for the US boys.
The goal from Tom Kühnhackl (57th) in the closing stages ultimately came too late.

This is the only way for Toni Söderholm's team to take first place in Group A.
The best runner-up in the group is Sweden (7 points in Group C).
