And try to stop him: Diego Jote wants to dismantle Inter tonight Israel today

2022-02-16T12:14:05.451Z

Liverpool have described him as a "tremendous addition of power" • Left, right, top - he does not stop conquering • Tonight, in the last 16 of the Champions League, the Portuguese is expected to be the biggest concern of the Italians, even more so than Muhammad Salah

The 0-1 win over Burnley in the last round was one of the least good this season of Liverpool offensively.

Only 12 kicks per goal, seven less than the season average.

Only four kicks per frame, almost half the season average.

One goal, in Fabiano's push, is far less than the 2.5 goals scored by Jürgen Klopp's team this season.

It can be linked to the harsh conditions of prey Moore.

"It's always hard to play here," the goal scorer confirmed, and the weather must have added to the difficulty.

One could also attribute this to the return of Muhammad Salah and Sadio Mana to the squad for the first time since the emotional African Championship, or simply to argue that it has to do with the fact that Diego Jote did not start in the squad.

Evidence: In just five games this season Liverpool have scored one or less goals - and in three of them the Portuguese started the game on the bench.

With the exception of these anemic games, Liverpool are experiencing a historic offensive season in its terms.

61 goals after 24 rounds is the most she has ever achieved at this stage of the season, with the top three cooks in the league being hers - Trent Alexander Arnold (10), Muhammad Salah (9) and Andy Robertson (8) - and also in the conquerors table she has conquered the summit.

While it is no surprise to see Salah in first place there with 16 goals, Jote's presence in second place with 12 was harder to expect.

Until this year, the Portuguese's personal top record in the Premier League was in 2015/16 when he scored 12 goals in Passos Pereira.

Two years later he finished the championship season with 17 goals in the Wolves uniform, while in the Premier League he never passed the ninth.

"This is my best season," he said after a duo against Leicester last week;

"I want to continue to help the team."

"A huge leap"

When Jote arrived early last season, many wondered how he would fit in with the mighty Salah-Firmino-Mana trio.

He was supposed to be a quality backup whose qualities are known - speed, technique, cunning - but very quickly showed that he is much more than that.

His attacking influence was immediate and included a debut goal against Arsenal, the 10,000th goal in the club's history and a hat-trick in the Champions League against Atalanta.

Since then Robbie Fowler has not been a player to score seven goals in his first ten games for the club.

No less impressive than the quantity is the diversity at the gates of the Portuguese.

By the time he got to Liverpool he had scored two touchdowns, both in the Portuguese league, and since arriving at Merseyside he has already scored eight with his head.

The 17 goals he has scored this season in all competitions consist of six on the left foot, six on the right and five on the shot, and this versatility makes him a very important tool at the edge of the team.

"Since he got here he's made a huge leap," Klopp said last week;

"He has become a world-class pioneer."

Tonight against Inter, who will be missing the suspended Niccolò Barla, Juta may return to the squad if he is fully fit.

Liverpool fans are sure he must be part of the front trio, even though the entire squad is qualified and has been joined by Luis Diaz, and the German manager seems to understand that too.

"When we brought it in we knew it would be a tremendous addition of power," Klopp admitted;

"And now Juta IS ON FIRE."
