Beijing – The 24th Winter Olympic Games will take place in Beijing from February 4th to 20th, 2022.
Consequently, the Chinese capital is the only destination that has both summer and winter games in its vita, as Beijing already acted as host of the summer Olympic tournament in 2008.
The Asian metropolis was awarded the contract, among other things, because a number of sports facilities have been preserved and will be used again due to their good condition.

Olympic Winter Games 2022: The medal table from a German perspective
If you look at the medal table before the Olympic Winter Games in 2022, you can see that the German balance sheet is extremely positive.
Based on all the Winter Games held to date, the statistics come to the conclusion that German athletes have been able to collect the most medals and podium places.
All results between the 1924 Winter Olympics in Chamonix, France, and the previous games in Pyeongchang, South Korea (2018), were evaluated.

The most successful winter games so far from a German perspective were the finals in Pyeongchang.

As a result, German athletes were on the three-part podium 31 times, with biathlete Laura Dahlmeier, who comes from the Bavarian winter sports resort of Garmisch, opening the medal round.
Dahlmeier has now ended her active career and is now a mountain runner.

Immediately before the 2022 Winter Olympics, the medal table shows Germany as the leading nation with 408 medals.
Russia is in second place.
The Russians have won 135 gold medals so far.
In addition, 102 silver and 109 bronze medals go to her account.
All in all, representatives of the Russian Federation stood on a podium 346 times.
Norway has 22 more podium places.
The Scandinavians collected 132 gold, 125 silver and 111 bronze.
Depending on the weight of the precious metal, Norway ranks either second or third.

It is the United States of America.
USA was good for 105 gold, 110 silver and 89 bronze medals (304 podium appearances).
