Spain's Garbine Muguruza reached the second round of the Dubai Open after narrowly beating Czech Katerina Siniakova.
Muguruza was able to settle the match in her favour, with two sets to one, with a score of 7-6, 2-6, 6-2 after a match that lasted two hours and 25 minutes.
She will meet the world's seventh-ranked in the next round, Russian Veronika Kodermetova, who in turn toppled the Belarusian veteran Victoria Azarenka.
