Hermann Rogner is an institution at TSV Dorfen.

Dorfen – His enthusiasm for the sport has led the track and field athlete to competition destinations around the world.

Now the Dorfener celebrated his 80th birthday in a small circle.

The gymnastics and sports club also congratulated him warmly through the 3rd chairman Anton Haban.

In the birthday party, Hermann Rogner said that he had liked running as a hobby since he was a child.

So it came later that the management of TSV Dorfen asked if he would train interested youngsters in athletics.

Rogner then not only took over the training of "the few children", but also founded an athletics division in the largest sports club in Dorfen in 1980, which he still manages very successfully as department head.

As a dedicated coach, Rogner has inspired hundreds of young athletes to jump, run and throw for over 40 years.

In addition to his voluntary work as a trainer, the jubilee also took on responsibility as an official.

In 1998 he was elected 2nd chairman of the main association.

After the sudden death of former chairman Franz Wandinger, Rogner was briefly at the helm, until 2002 when the current president, Bernd Schmidbauer, took over.

In 2017, Rogner left the presidency – and he reveals that he will soon be in charge of the track and field athletes as well.

There are very committed people ready to lead the department, which has over 150 members.

As early as 2007, his commitment to the association was recognized with honorary membership.

He really enjoys being a trainer, and "it was always fun to accompany the children and see how they develop and also fight in championships," says the sprightly pensioner.

As a young man, he himself was "intermittently active as an athlete for TSV den 1860 Munich".

He has many nice experiences from the many competitions and training camps to which he has traveled with his athletes at home and abroad.

He still maintains good contacts in Cuba, where the 80-year-old once coached a school class.

As an active runner, the jubilee was always at home on the long distances, took part in the New York marathon, sweated in Greece at the original Olympic marathon or the city run in Hong Kong.

And he also laced up his shoes for the Munich City Run.

The enthusiasm did not diminish with age: "I used to win everything in the 10-kilometer age group," says Rogner.

The running shoes have been in the closet for a few years now.

The man from Dorfen then looks back at the development of the sports facilities in Isenstadt with nostalgia.

TSV trains for the all-around, "all disciplines except high jump," says the celebrant.

"There is no high jump facility and unfortunately there is no 400-meter track for the runners either." It will probably continue to be just a 333-meter lap in the school sports center.

This means that no competitions are possible in Isenstadt, the jubilarian regrets and says: "I no longer experience that we get a 400-meter track in Dorfen."

Rogner remembers the history of the origin of the 333-meter track.

At first, the central school (built in 1973) was given a 100-meter running track for physical education next to the grass field.

Later, the grammar school was added and another 100-meter track on the opposite side: "A prank of the bourgeoisie," says the jubilee today.

The expansion to a 400-meter track had already failed at that time.

But at least the district has agreed to co-finance a ring closure as a connection for the two sections.

Since then at least a circuit was created.

After elementary school in Dorfen, Hermann Rogner successfully completed an apprenticeship as a car mechanic.

He later worked for BMW in Munich for 40 years until he retired.

In the company he was mainly active in training.

The celebrant has been happily married since 1963.

Together with his wife Anneliese (née Weißhardt), he raised a daughter and now has three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
