The budget fell below NIS 100 million for the first time, and the budget deficit reached NIS 36 million.

Maccabi Tel Aviv's goal is to reach the home stage in one of the European factories each season.

In recent years, the major teams in Israeli football, including Maccabi Tel Aviv, have refrained from publishing their financial reports to the public.

This morning we reveal for the first time the financial report of Maccabi Tel Aviv for the previous season (20/21), which was submitted to the leagues administration.

There are many interesting points in the report. One of them is the fact that the yellows' large income last season from the achievements in Europe simply saved them from entering a huge economic pit.

Last season, Maccabi Tel Aviv reported revenues of NIS 49,446,000 from UEFA grants.

This is a very significant increase compared to the previous season (19/20), when the Yellows were eliminated in the third qualifying round of the Europa League and brought in NIS 6,191,000 from the European campaign.

Revenues from ticket sales and subscriptions were significantly damaged last season, due to the corona crisis and the lack of crowd attendance for many months.

Revenue from ticket sales and subscriptions last year was only NIS 5,265,000, compared to a much larger profit in the 19/20 season, which amounted to NIS 29,506,000.

In the section on joint revenues and transfers, Maccabi Tel Aviv also recorded a decrease in revenues, when last season the amount was 46,670,000 compared to 68,814,000 previously. While in the 19/20 season the amount was only NIS 4,781,000.

The salary of the players and the professional team at Maccabi Tel Aviv was NIS 59,465,000 last season, and here the Yellows recorded a decrease in expenses compared to the previous season, where the budget was NIS 62,015.00. NIS 17,941,000, while in the previous season the amount was NIS 19,142,000, and in terms of policing and security costs, Maccabi reduced its expenses thanks to Corona, from NIS 4,650,000 to NIS 1,624,000.

According to the report, the club reduced their other expenses by tens of percent, from 31,216,000 in the 19/20 season to 20,592,000. The report does not specify what the other expenses are, but it can be estimated that these are medical staff salaries, UEFA participation expenses Flights, hotels, etc.), training camp, maintenance of foreign players and more, but as stated, the report does not explicitly state what the other expenses are.

One of the two documents obtained by "Israel Today",

The report also states that: "The surplus of budgeted expenses over revenues (budget deficit) in the 20/21 season is about NIS 36 million.

Every month, the management of the partnership convenes for a status meeting, monitors the actual implementation in relation to the budget, and discusses exceptions, if any, and the forecast of income and expenses until the end of the season.

The owner supports the club and covers the cash flow deficit according to the group's needs. "

The bottom line is that Maccabi Tel Aviv managed to reduce its budget from NIS 117 million to a little over NIS 99 million last season, but without the big revenues from Europe, its financial loss last year would have climbed by tens of millions and it would have fallen on owner Mitch Goldhaar. The sums that Maccabi will earn this season from its achievements in the Conference League - at least about five and a half million euros - are a must in order to set up a large budget like the one set by the runner-up.
