The German Daniela Maier from Vöhrenbach has outsider chances, the favorite for gold is the Swede Sandra Näslund.

Johanna Holzmann (Memmingen) is the second German starter.

Medal decisions are also made in women's speed skating over 1000 meters (without German participation) and in women's figure skating.

There, all eyes are on Russian prodigy Kamila Valiyeva, who is allowed to compete after testing positive for banned substances and is in the lead going into the final.
