Race director fired – did Mercedes put the pressure on?

As a reaction to the events of the season finale, the world association FIA made drastic changes.

The controversial race director Michael Masi lost his post, and the future race directors will be supported by a central command center similar to the video assistant in football.

Toto Wolff rejected the fact that Mercedes could have put pressure on Masi, especially with regard to the personnel.

"Changes to the structure were necessary," said the Mercedes head of sport.

“The decisions made last season polarized us very much.

But personnel changes are the sole responsibility of the FIA.” The new association president, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, “does not allow himself to be persuaded”.

In any case, a lot will be different in Formula 1, the changed regulations will take effect in the new season: the teams had to design completely new cars.
