In the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) only one club is threatened with relegation this season.
Neuss – Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the regulation has been adjusted and there will be no second relegation, the DEL and DEL2 announced.
This was agreed upon in talks.
The rise of the champions from the second division is still possible.
Because relegation, which was actually reintroduced last season, was suspended due to the Corona crisis, this season, exceptionally, 15 clubs are competing in the DEL.
This could now also be the case in the coming season.
As a sporty climber, however, only the Löwen Frankfurt come into question.
The DEL is aiming to reduce the league back to 14 clubs by the 2023/2024 season at the latest.
In the event of a promoted team, two clubs will be relegated in the coming season.
