After a criminal complaint by the Hessian ice hockey boss Hendrik Ansink, the Munich public prosecutor's office is delving deeper into the investigation against the President of the German Ice Hockey Association (DEB), Franz Reindl.
According to information from SPIEGEL and the "Augsburger Allgemeine", the DEB canceled an information event for members planned for next Wednesday, at which the results of an internal investigation into allegations against Reindl were to be presented.
The presentation of the report by the Cologne criminal law firm Verte had to be canceled because the Munich public prosecutor had requested the results and was informed first, the reasoning said.
You cooperate with the public prosecutor's office and coordinate all steps with her first.
The matter is about the question of whether Reindl could have had a conflict of interest in the past with a double role and committed infidelity at the expense of the association.
Reindl was both honorary DEB President and paid managing director of a DEB subsidiary for several years.
This subsidiary had benefited from funds from the Swiss sports marketer Infront, with which Reindl, as president, also negotiated the marketing of the DEB.
Like Infront, Reindl denies having acted to the detriment of the association.
Meanwhile, the association rebels around Ansink are aiming for an extraordinary general meeting.
This requires the support of 25 member organizations such as state associations or clubs of the ice hockey leagues.
So far, he has left open whether Reindl will run again as a presidential candidate in the upcoming elections in the summer against the background of the developments.
