VfB Hallbergmoos starts the league season against the SpVgg Hankofen-Hailing team.

The new coach wants to take the audience with him.

Hallbergmoos

– With a convincing 3:2 win in a friendly against the current regional league club FC Pipinsried, the VfB Hallbergmoos footballers have prepared themselves for the restart in the Bavarian league.

In the first home game of the year on Saturday at 1.30 p.m. (Stadion am Airport), the likely future regional league team, SpVgg Hankofen-Hailing, is waiting there.

The Hallbergers would be only too happy to trip up the leader of the league.

"With the last league games and the tests, we have now won seven games in a row," emphasizes VfB coach Matthias Strohmaier.

"And we'll take this self-confidence with us into the league." The Pipinsried game in particular proved that on a good day, even nominally better teams can get into trouble.

For Strohmaier, the dress rehearsal ten days ago was the final confirmation that the team is on the right track.

The team has internalized the footballing ideas of their new coaching trio more and more.

VfB usually wants to act and not just react.

Strohmaier demands full commitment and passionate football

The Hallbergmooser fans are now also looking forward to the first insights into the new game philosophy of the Strohmaier team in the cracker against the leaders of the table.

"The spectators should see that every player gives 100 percent," says the 27-year-old coach, who enjoys attacking and courageous football.

One face of the development process is Tobias Krause, for example, who has always been quick – and lately is also a goal threat.

"You can tell he's having fun," says the coach.

Strohmaier hopes to be able to take the VfB supporters with him with commitment and passion - "and maybe we'll get a little witch's cauldron together then".

However, the first opponent after the winter break is tough: Statistically, Hankofen-Hailing is the superior team in the league.

She has won 17 of 22 games and, given her current 14-point lead over the second, she can hardly be caught.

Nevertheless, the figures also say that the Primus was just one goal better seven times – including the 2-1 win against VfB in the first half of the season.

Strohmaier, who comes from Lower Bavaria and knows the SpVgg well, doesn’t want to know anything about soldiers of fortune at the top: “Anyone who has that many points after 22 games is right up there.

They have two strong strikers and are also extremely dangerous from set pieces.”

"The most important thing is just to keep the class."

The Hallbergmooser still remember from the first leg that Hankofen has problems when it has to make the game.

Therefore, this time a wait-and-see attitude of the home team is realistic.

However, VfB also had to learn that the best in the league doesn't need many chances to score.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

In the second half of the season, the Hallbergmoosers still have 15 games to go on their mission to stay up.

The squad is one point ahead of the two direct relegation places and seven points behind the saving 13th place.

Is staying in the league realistic?

Strohmaier doesn't want to speculate about that: "The most important thing is just to keep up the class." He also makes it clear that no club that has finished the first half of the season with only nine points has managed to do this.

That is an additional motivation.

In addition, the trainer tells his protégés that anyone can beat anyone in this league - "and now with Corona it's all going to be even more extreme".

The game against Hankofen also starts with a score of 0:0.

Expected lineup:

VfB Hallbergmoos:

Kozel - Mömkes, Hammerl (Opitz), Giglberger, Petschner - Kostorz, Beetz, Schmit, Werner, Krause - Aygün.
