It's an endless nightmare.
After her outings in slalom and giant, Mikaela Shiffrin failed to snag a medal in the alpine combined, when she was the huge favorite.
After a fifth place in the downhill, the three-time World Cup winner straddled in the slalom and left a major event unscathed for the first time in her career.
“I feel ridiculous”, had proclaimed the American, after the combined.
And this poor performance had repercussions on social networks.
On her Twitter account, the Colorado skier posted some messages received after her poor results in these Olympics.
"You don't handle the pressure", "You get what you deserve", "Loser", "Your time is up, retire" received, among other things, the American champion.

“These people have no idea of the sacrifices we make”
In response, Shiffrin posted a long message in which she explains that she wants to get up, “again and again”.
"Get back up because you can, because you love what you do, when it's not infested with hate-filled people," he wrote.
Stand up.
It's not always easy, but it's not the end of the world either to miss the Olympics once, twice or even five times.
Why do I keep coming back?
[...] Because I am a hell of a head of mule ”.
On her Twitter account, 2018 Olympic mogul skiing champion Perrine Laffont, who also experienced a complicated 2022 Olympics, supported the American: “No athlete should receive this type of message!
These people have no idea of all the sacrifices we make every day for our sport.
Every athlete should be supported and not shamed!
Because yes, I too received this kind of message after my 'disappointing 4th place'”.

French skier Alexis Pinturault also had a word for the US champion after her disappointing Nordic combined saying that "champions are people first".
A great mark of support for Mikaela Shiffrin, who can see that she will never walk alone, despite the defeat.
The American will be competing this weekend in the team event to try to return home with at least one medal from these Games.
