The third and final day of the Tel Aviv Judo Grand Slam, held at Heichal Shlomo, kicked off this morning (Saturday), with the participation of 11 Israeli athletes, with the focus on Peter Plachik, Inbar Lanir and Raz Hershko, who will continue the momentum in the delegation and also take the podium.

Plachik, a bronze medalist from the Tokyo Olympics in the team competition, and a European champion from two years ago, competing in the weight category up to 100 kg, is ranked first in the competition, for which he was automatically promoted to the second round.

Inbar Lanir, 21, who competes in the weight category up to 78 kg, who managed to achieve the Olympic criteria for Tokyo in six months and also win the team bronze there, meets in her first fight Alice Blandi of Italy, the 2018 world junior champion.

In the open weight, over 78 kg, for women, Raz Hershko, last year's Grand Slam Paris champion, ranked fifth in the world, won to advance directly to the quarterfinals, due to a lack of participants in the category.

As you may recall, on the opening day on Thursday, Israel achieved two medals, while Baruch Shmailov (66 kg) went up to receive the gold medal and Timna Nelson Levy achieved the bronze weighing up to 57 kg, while Shira Rishoni (48 kg) and Geffen Primo ( 52 kg) were ranked fifth.

Yesterday (Friday), Israel increased its number of medals, with Tohar Botbol finishing with a bronze medal, in the weight category up to 73 kg, while former world champion Sagi Muki (81 kg) was ranked fifth.
