Olympic Games 2022: Pinturault, Worley and the Blues out for two hundredths in the team event

There will be no 15th medal for France at these Beijing Games after the failure of the mixed parallel team in alpine skiing.

Until the end, these Beijing Games will not have smiled on Alexis Pinturault or Tessa Worley.

During the mixed team parallel event, the French team had a good card to play to try to win the 15th hexagonal medal and thus equal the scores of Sochi in 2014 and Pyeongchang in 2018. Alas, the Blues have disappeared before the serious things even started…

France was thus beaten by Norway in the quarter-finals.

The two countries won two of the four duels each but were decided by the addition of the times of the best skier and the best skier of each team, the Blues being eliminated by only two hundredths of a second (48''23 against 48' '25).

A real disappointment, especially since the Norwegians were far from fielding their best team in an event which had been postponed by one day due to weather conditions.

First to start, Tessa Worley passed by and lost to Thea Louise Stjernesund.

In the aftermath, Alexis Pinturault and Coralie Frasse Sombet, put France back in the direction of the march, but on the last run, Mathieu Faivre lost to Fabian Solheim,

A double setback which is inevitably a bit of a task for the giant's bronze medalist, visibly little concerned by the day's event.

Alexis Pinturault, Mathieu Faivre, Tessa Worley and Coralie Frasse-Sombet will therefore not be on the podium in the last alpine skiing event of the Games, which the first named will leave without a medal for the first time in his career.

Unless there is a huge surprise during the 30 km cross-country race, the French delegation should therefore remain at 14 medals in total.
