In the women's cross-country team sprint, Germany surprisingly won gold.

An "insider" now raises serious allegations.

Did the German team cheat?

Beijing - Olympics 2022 is history!

Germany goes home with a total of 27 medals in its luggage.

The German athletes were unbeatable, especially on the ice track.

Even if the degree of dominance is surprising, the successes in tobogganing and bobsleigh were definitely planned.

A gold medal in cross-country skiing was anything but planned.

But Katharina Hennig and Victoria Carl created a fairy tale that nobody saw coming with their Olympic victory in the team sprint.

The German triumph also provoked disbelief in the Scandinavian cross-country nations of Finland, Sweden and Norway.

Olympia: German material fraud in cross-country skiing?

DSV reacts immediately

This went so far that the rumor suddenly spread that Germany had cheated.

The Finnish tabloid

Iltalehti

circulated the allegation by citing an anonymous "insider".

He claims to have learned that the German cross-country skiers used the forbidden ski wax "C8" for their material.

The German Ski Association (DSV) did not let the allegation sit for long.

"We usually do not comment on anonymous allegations, especially if they are so outrageous," said board member Stefan Schwarzbach in an interview with

Eurosport

.

"But to put it bluntly: The German Ski Association adheres to all specifications and rules."

Olympia: Former national coach Behle smashes allegations of fraud

It seems extremely unlikely that there is any truth to the allegations.

Former national coach and Olympian Jochen Behle explains at

Eurosport

why: “Grow with C8 fluoride would not have volunteered for any team at the games in China.

The reason is obvious: This material is only useful in damp and wet conditions, when it is a bit warmer and the trail is slippery.”

However, the climate at the Chinese Olympic site in Zhangjiakou was very cold and dry.

Behle simply suspects "envy" as the reason for the allegations.

The cold in the Chinese mountains not only caused dull snow - but also hypothermia for the athletes.

For a Finn, it was particularly uncomfortable in the intimate area.
