Hapoel Tel Aviv will complain to DIP: "Shocked by police violence" | Israel today

"We call on the Minister of Internal Security, the Minister of Sports, the Director of the Leagues and the Football Association to take action against those police officers who vigorously beat football fans indiscriminately and mercilessly - in a stands where they should not be in the first place.

"This is not the first time that the Israel Police has used extreme and unnecessary violence against football fans in general and Hapoel Tel Aviv fans in particular.

"It seems that someone in the police" prepared "the police in advance and the whole deal with the group's fans, from the first moment, was disgraceful - to say the least.

"The club will turn to DIP and all relevant parties to bring to justice those who call themselves law-abiding people, but yesterday they passed it over and over again while intimidating the stands, women, men, adults, boys and children alike."

In response to the incidents, the Israel Police stated: "During a football game held last night at the Sami Ofer Stadium, dozens of fans began to dislodge chairs and throw them at the field and the seat of the rival team's fans.

"Meanwhile, police were forced to make arrests of the suspects in the act while additional fans continued to act as vandalists while harming rival team fans, staff and police officers who were at the scene.

"We take violence and bullying of all kinds on and near sports fields very seriously, and in particular violence against police forces. We will continue to take action against anyone who improves public order and law and tries to harm police officers, sporting events and anywhere else."
