For around 25 minutes, EC Peiting played well against Landsberg despite the small squad.

But then the team lost their rhythm.

In the end the decision was made in overtime.

Peiting - Things didn't get that bad for EC Peiting after all.

For the home game on Wednesday evening in the Oberliga Süd, 14 field players were available - instead of just twelve players as initially forecast.

And they won against the "Riverkings" of HC Landsberg after extra time 5:4 - after they had already clearly led.

ECP trainer Anton Saal said: "If you're 4-1 ahead, you shouldn't switch back - especially with a small squad".

He was happy to take the win with him, but also said: "We gave away a point."

In the first third, EC Peiting showed good work in the special teams.

The ECP used the first power play to take the lead.

At first, the home team struggled and went offside twice.

But once the ECP had found their formation, things went well as so often: Andreas Feuerecker took a shot from the blue line, and in the following stab in front of the goal, a Peitinger prevailed.

This time it was Dominic Krabbat who converted the rebound to make it 1-0 (7th).

A little surprising, but well played out, was the equalizer from Landsberg by Frantisek Wagner (9th), who was criminally left alone.

Peiting was not greatly impressed by this.

Peiting scores in over and under numbers

Even a penalty left the ECP cold.

The hosts demonstrated that they mastered penalty killing.

Markus Czogallik provided the icing on the cake in this phase: first he provoked a loss of a target with a lot of effort in the opponent's zone, then he completed Nardo Nagtzaam's pass to make it 2:1 (12th).

This was followed by two remarkable individual actions by Shane Heffernan (14th) and Daniel Reichert (16th), but they didn't result in a goal.

Shortly before the break, the ECP played a two-to-one counterattack coolly: Youngster Niklas Greil played on Heffernan, who made it 3-1 (20th).

He deserved the goal: Peiting's Markus Czogallik outnumbered after his goal to make it 2-1.

Peiting quickly followed suit in the middle section: Nagtzaam went ahead, rounded a defender and the HCL goalkeeper and – with the help of an unfortunate Sven Gäbelein – steered the target into the goal to make it 4:1 (23rd).

It's all OK?

Are you kidding me? Are you serious when you say that!

Within 35 seconds, the Landsbergers reduced the lead to 3:4.

First Mika Reuter scored from distance (26'), then Adriano Carciola had the necessary luck after a strong individual action that ECP keeper Florian Hechenrieder unluckily steered the puck into his own goal (27').

The "Riverkings" were now at eye level.

Wagner and Gäbelein had two huge chances from which Hechenrieder made a strong save.

HC Landsberg fights back into the game

ECP coach Saal reacted and took a time out.

As a result, it was a balanced, competitive duel.

The ECP youngsters Greil and Louis Postel each failed narrowly, after which Peiting missed two power plays.

Shortly before the siren, Landsberg still had a top chance with a break.

The game continued to be balanced in the final third.

It went back and forth, but the really big opportunities didn't arise.

Exceptions were the shot by Feuerecker (44th) and - on the other hand - the action of Landsberg's Marvin Feigl (50th).

A Peitinger shortcoming: Not much came together in the majority - three power plays (45th, 50th, 52nd) brought nothing.

When the ECP was outnumbered afterwards, Krabbat narrowly missed out on a break to HCL keeper Jonas Stettmer (56th).

Landsberg tried it with a sixth field player - with success.

49 seconds before the end, Reuter made it 4:4.

Landsberg had the first chance in overtime, but then received a penalty.

The ECP used this power play: Krabbat converted Nagtzaam's cross pass (63').
