Europa League*: Round of 16 draw in Nyon |
Friday, 12 p.m
Three German teams and well-known clubs like FC Barcelona* are still in the competition.
We accompany the draw in the live ticker.
Nyon - Borussia Dortmund didn't make it.
A 2-2 draw in the second leg was not enough to advance to the next round of the Europa League after the first-leg defeat by Glasgow Rangers.
But the Bundesliga still has three horses in its stable: Eintracht Frankfurt, RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen are in the round of 16.
Only the opponents are still missing.
The Europa League is the little brother of the Champions League - and yet there are traditionally some well-known clubs in the knockout stages.
Two of the favorites for the title are FC Barcelona and record champions FC Sevilla.
The two La Liga teams were relegated from the Champions League and won their duel in the second round.
Europa League draw: The 16 teams in the round of 16
Sevilla FC (Spain)
Atalanta Bergamo (Italy)
RB Leipzig (Germany)
FC Barcelona (Spain)
Betis Seville (Spain)
Glasgow Rangers (Scotland)
Sporting Braga (Portugal)
FC Porto (Portugal)
Olympique Lyon (France)
AS Monaco (France)
Spartak Moscow (Russia)
Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany)
Galatasaray Istanbul (Turkey)
Red Star Belgrade (Serbia)
Bayer Leverkusen (Germany)
West Ham United (England)
Just like RB Leipzig: The Saxons did better than BVB and prevailed against Real Sociedad.
Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen were in the competition from the start and each finished first in their group.
In the round of 16, the three German clubs could now face tough challenges.
The hardest lots on paper are next to Barcelona and Sevilla FC Porto, West Ham United, Betis Sevilla and Atalanta Bergamo.
However, teams like Jerome Boateng's Olympique Lyon or Kevin Volland's AS Monaco should not be underestimated.
