Jesse Marsch is the new manager of relegation-threatened English Premier League club Leeds United.
Almost three months after leaving Bundesliga club RB Leipzig, the American signed a contract until June 2025. The 48-year-old is the successor to Argentinian Marcelo Bielsa, from whom Leeds had parted the day before.
Marsch came to the partner club in Leipzig from RB Salzburg last summer.
But he could not fulfill the hopes.
His term of office ended after only five months.
His successor Domenico Tedesco has now led the team to a place in the Champions League.
Marsch is the third American to take over a Premier League club.
Previously, Bob Bradley had coached Swansea City.
David Wagner, who has German and US citizenship, was active for Huddersfield.
Leeds are currently 16th in the table, just two points clear of a relegation zone.
Most recently, the club had been without a win six times in a row.
Saturday's 4-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur was their fourth straight defeat, conceding 17 goals.
"Jesse is someone we identified a few years ago during his time at Red Bull Salzburg and we believe his philosophy and style of football is in line with that of the club and will suit the players very well," said Victor Orta, director of football from Leeds.
