In the fight for the direct play-off entry, it's getting more and more exciting.

The result of EC Peiting's away game at SC Riessersee plays a role in this.

Peiting – The fight for direct entry into the play-offs in the Oberliga is growing in tension – to the chagrin of EC Peiting.

Coach Anton Saal's team lost 3-0 at SC Riessersee on Tuesday evening.

The Garmisch-Partenkirchen team, along with Höchstadt, now has a chance to displace the ECP from sixth place.

Riessersee "wanted the win more," said Saal after the game.

The hosts were "more aggressive and more present in the duels".

SCR coach Pat Cortina was "surprised by the energy" his team showed.

For Riessersee it was the fourth game in eight days.

During the first third break, the Faith-no-More classic "Epic" boomed out of the loudspeakers at the Olympic Ice Sports Center.

The start of the derby wasn't really epic and monumental, but it was very entertaining and good to watch.

A lot was stirring in front of both gates.

The first offensive actions were recorded by Peitingen, who started with three offensive lines - first by Nardo Nagtzaam, then by Maximilian Söll.

But Riessersee soon found his way.

Florian Hechenrieder stopped Michael Knaub's first warning shot.

The ECP goalkeeper was beaten in the second action: Felix Linden skillfully scored from a tight angle to make it 1-0 (4th).

At SC Riessersee, two defenders meet

As a result, Hechenrieder had a lot to do: The SCR (with four storm rows at the start) took his box under fire.

The ECP survived this critical phase including a manpower game.

All of a sudden there was a huge chance for the guests, but Marco Habermann was denied by the strong goalkeeper Michael Böhm (14th).

As a result, there were opportunities here and there.

At the ECP, Nagtzaam (15') and Ty Morris (18') just missed a goal.

In the only ECP power play in the first third, the puck was free in front of the line - SCR defender Simon Mayr, from Obersöcheringer, clarified the situation.

Many Peitinger chances in the power play

The game was also played intensively in the middle third.

At first there were only a few chances due to good defensive work.

When SCR asset Robin Soudek had to go to the penalty box (28th), the Peitinger equalizer was in the air several times.

Dominic Krabbat (on a rebound), Lukas Motloch (with a shot off the post) and Nagtzaam (from long range) were close to scoring.

When the hosts were complete again, a sloppy pass from Florian Vollmer created Krabbat a huge chance, but keeper Böhm thwarted it.

The suspense factor remained high as both teams came up with more chances.

ECP keeper Hechenrieder reacted strongly against Elias Lindner, Soudek and Luca Alavena.

The final third began with a cold shower for Peiting: Riessersee made it 2-0 after a quick counterattack (43').

Again a defender was successful;

this time the shooter's name was Alexandre Perron-Fontaine.

After that, the hosts kept the greater part of the game and kept the ECP away from their own goal.

Linden had the chance to score the third goal, but Hechenrieder was there (46').

Peiting only had chances sporadically.

Simon Maier was too late when Morris crossed the ball (48'), Christoph Frankenberg's shot was saved by keeper Böhm (49').

Riessersee then skilfully held the disc and took the time off the clock.

Meanwhile, Peiting was also unlucky: Florian Stauder failed twice at the goalkeeper (54th).

Shortly before the end there was a penalty against Riessersee (59th).

Peiting also took the goalkeeper off the ice for a field player.

First Morris had a good chance, then he made a mistake.

Soudek used the faux pas to make it 3-0 (60th).

For Riessersee it was the fourth win in a row.

Statistics:

1st period: 1:0 (3:47) Linden (Knaub).

2nd third: no goals.

3rd period: 2: 0 (42:42) Perron-Fontaine (Ehliz, Cimmerman), 3: 0 (59:31) Soudek (4-6 / empty net).

Penalty minutes: Riessersee 6, Peiting 4. Referees: Erdle, Haas.
