After a crazy cup thriller, KSC fails on penalties at Hamburger SV:
Thriller in the DFB Cup!
On Wednesday evening (March 2), Hamburger SV got through with a lot of effort against league competitor Karlsruher SC* and entered the semi-finals of the DFB Cup.
The game in the Volksparkstadion will only be decided in a penalty shoot-out.
After 120 minutes it was 2:2 between HSV and KSC*.
Three Karlsruhers fail from the penalty spot, so that the North Germans ultimately win 5:4 after penalties.

Philip Heise (40th) puts the guests from Karlsruhe in the lead with a direct free kick just before the break.
A few minutes after the change of sides, the next blow to the neck for HSV: Philipp Hofmann scored the 0:2 after preparatory work by Marvin Wanitzek.
What follows is a gripping cup game that is exciting right to the end.

HSV has a great chance to equalize in the 72nd minute.
Sonny Kittel fails from the penalty spot to KSC keeper Marius Gersbeck.
Christoph Kobald, who caused the penalty, has to leave the field with yellow-red, so that Baden are outnumbered in the final phase.
Referee Felix Zwayer's decision caused a lot of discussion.

Seconds before the final whistle, KSC had to concede the goal: Glatzel saved HSV into extra time.
Ultimately, the decision comes down to a penalty shoot-out.
This then proceeds in a similarly dramatic manner: While only Sebastian Schonlau misses at HSV, Marvin Wanitzek, Daniel Gordon and Daniel O'Shaughnessy cannot score at KSC.
The result: Hamburger SV leaves the field as the winner and can look forward to reaching the semi-finals.
DFB Cup: Draw for semi-finals on Sunday
The semi-finals in the DFB Cup are scheduled for April 19th and 20th.
The draw will take place on Sunday (March 6) at 7:15 p.m.
ARD will broadcast the draw for the semifinals live on TV and live stream.
