Another winner of the quarter-finals in the DFB Cup has been determined: Bundesliga club RB Leipzig, led by the strong Christopher Nkunku, overran second division club Hannover 96 4-0 (2-0).
The player of the season at RB Leipzig has so far been Christopher Nkunku: the Frenchman clearly leads the club's goal and assist statistics.
Nkunku already made the difference at the weekend in the league against Bochum, now the Leipzig all-rounder in attack also initiated the away cup win against Hannover 96 with two goals.
The goals were similar in how they came about: the Hanoverians, who were very committed at first, lost the ball going forward.
First Dani Olmo, then Joško Gvardiol found Nkunku with worthwhile passes from deep – the ball went in twice (17/22).
RB liked that, but the away fans whistled at the double goalscorer when Nkunku held the ball up on the touchline just before the break and followed it up with a back-heel seconds later.
There were no further tricks after the change of sides, but so was a comeback by the second division club from Hanover.
Instead, Konrad Laimer (67') increased after a one-two and André Silva, who slightly touched a deflected cross before crossing the goal line (73'), for the guests, who are the last top favorites of the cup season in the semi-finals.
